I'm still vacillating between actually going and not going. It's a long way for me, and I would have to expend money I do not have at the moment.

That sucks man. I got my roundtrip flight for $308 (all fees included) and I'm on the west coast. Took some time off work since my buddy (who is a teacher) is on spring break so I'm going to be there for a 5 day vacation. I guess It worked out fine for me after all.altthymes wrote:I paid $800 for a last minute flight because I saw an opening in March and thought that would be the last round of interviews before decisions on held apps. End rant.

Those who signed up for hold interviews. Did you previously do another interview?altthymes wrote:I paid $800 for a last minute flight because I saw an opening in March and thought that would be the last round of interviews before decisions on held apps. No hold decisions coming out until towards the end of April. Called admissions recently and they said they were finalizing decisions on people who still haven't heard back by the end of last week for notification this week. Will start reviewing held apps this week, with decisions coming out towards end of April.

I figured that. Have they given any indication on when held essays are due? Someone posted that there is no hard and fast deadline for them. However, I assume that one would need to get those in relatively quickly.gerrydawg wrote:No hold decisions coming out until towards the end of April. Yes, sooner the better. Still time to get them in and have them be considered now.jacketyellow wrote:I figured that. Have they given any indication on when held essays are due? Is anyone willing to look over my LOCI? I could use another set of eyes on it. I'll PM it to anyone who is willing. Thanks!

Re: Held at Northwestern c/o 2017
Hi all.
I went in for my interview today and well... I heard from others who had spoken to people in the office that they admitted too many people this cycle and the chances of people getting off the hold list is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY almost impossible. Then another student chimed in and said that they heard the lady in the front desk dissuade someone from flying in to do an on campus interview. I'm glad I heard this AFTER my interview. But it murdered my day. I flew out and have spent so much on flight, stay, and food to hear this? God I really hope it's not true.

Ugh I wish. PM me for more details if you don't believe me. At least when I go back to work I'll be so sad that my family emergency excuse for missing work today will believable!

I might've been on the tour with you today if you took one. I'll just say you shouldn't always trust hearsay, as you know if you're applying to law school. And if we're thinking of the same person who said they heard someone in admissions dissuade someone from interviewing, I got the vibe that that person may have been trying to dissuade people themselves. Tensions are high when we are all fighting for the same spots and there are no rules when it comes to mind games. I say don't give up until all hope is completely lost! (i.e. official rejection)

Fuck it. I'm still doing the interview. I already booked my ticket to Chicago and took work off. Friend is letting me stay at his place so it's going to be awesome.

I had an on-campus interview recently, and I am choosing optimism as well. It might be foolish, but I can't help but believe that if this were really the situation then they would start the rejections/waitlist offers already. How does it benefit them to keep a bunch of people on hold who have such a small probability of getting in? I'd rather stay cautiously optimistic than allow myself to be overly negative. I guess it helps that I have a couple of other options if this one doesn't pan out.
Either way, I'm hoping for good news myself and for the rest of you!!

I'm not sure if you're saying luuma is a troll or the other people. But I heard some students discuss it at the group. I was also there for a tour which is why I also know. It was something like five girls and three boys. I really think they want to weed out any students who aren't dedicated to NU.gerrydawg wrote:TROLL??luuma wrote:Hi all.

Do our status checkers stop mattering now? Or will they be used with the decision letter system again when the ultimate decision is made?
