I haven't heard a thing.... starting to think that if they continue to stay quiet through July, all hope is lost for ppl. like me in the 2nd quartile....

May be misplaced optimism but from reading TLS and LSN it seems like at least one or two people who got off the Stanford wait list were eyeing Berkeley earlier -- So that would mean Berk would need at least *someone* from the WL

Honestly, I dont think im going anywhere this year. Read what gobears just posted. I wouldn't get my hopes up guys, unless I was like #1-5 on that list which, from what I understand, no one really knows their exact placement soo... Retaking the LSAT and reapplying for the third time I suppose... Whatever everyone else plans to do and will do... Good luck all!

Yay! Notably GW just made a similar notification. Seems other schools might just be starting to pull people off the WL this late too. Goodluck to everyone!

also hope they make it past the first tier, and hopefully it's so late that a lot of people have made alternative plans lol!

Yup... got the email too... still dont believe they'll actually dip below 1st quartile this late in.. There are 350ppl on the waitlist minus those who dropped. Orientation is Aug. 21-22 and classes begin 25. But everything Is possible so keeping fingers crossed.

Thank you to the poster above who withdrew as it is helpful to those who would go if accepted off of the WL. I got the email today too and am hopeful to hear good news. Everything I own is being stored in a garage in Berkeley, so definitely would be awesome to have the opportunity to stay! How do we tell them we are interested if we can't respond to the email. Thoughts?

In the email they do pretty clearly state:

if you wish to remain on our list and believe that it is likely you will accept an admission offer, then there is nothing further you need to do

As far as quartile rankings go, I think I read *somewhere* (don't remember where) that within quartiles we're not ranked. In other words, think that within in the quartiles the process is more holistic. So if they lose a prospective human rights lawyer to HLS, then they'll pull a prospective human rights lawyer from Quartile 1 first, rather than someone who is interested in transactional law.

Also from reading a previous year's wait list comments on TLS, it appears the admissions office distinguished between residents and non-residents (giving priority to residents *that year*). So someone allegedly in Quartile 4 made it in before a non-resident in Quartile 1. Don't know if they'll make this distinction again this year, or which of the two groups will be favored if they do. But the bottom line is, it's all more opaque than it seems.
