Got the same scholly. Its not bad at all but I could stay in arizona and pay the same amount without any scholarship at all. I think Ill just wait for my other schools to get back to me.moralsentiments wrote:Got the scholarship email. 22k per year if I read it correctly. 3.3 stip (50%). It says residency doesn't affect the award so if I obtain resident status 2-3 years, the award is still good. I think I'm going to email the dean to make sure i'm understanding it correctly.

Let me know what you hear from the dean. I got the same scholarship and I'm very confused if the 22k per year after the first year is subtracted from the in-state or out-of state tuition rate. Kind of a strangely worded email.moralsentiments wrote:Got the scholarship email. 22k per year if I read it correctly. 3.3 stip (50%). Yeah if you get the 22k for years 2 and 3 and you gain residency, its only like 2k each year for tuition.

ASU offered me full tuition. I'm from utah and got the 14k a year. Talked to the dean and he said they " don't match scholarships". I really want to go to utah but don't know if I can waste my 168 especially considering utah is in for a dive in the rankings. Making my life difficult.

168? Are you a splitter? I'm surprised you didn't get more.whjohnso444 wrote:ASU offered me full tuition. I'm from utah and got the 14k a year. I think they give 59% of the tuition and that is about 14k/year for in-state.moralsentiments wrote:168? Are you a splitter? Ya 3.2 168. I should have applied to byu but if couldn't have gotten the ecclesiastical endorsement. I'm about to get married though, so I could probably get one now but it's too late to apply. It's really quite the pickle. The dean said they will re evaluate scholarships the week of the first deposit. I expect they will give out more. If they don't, I might just not go just to spite them lol. I have gotten into some much better schools but want to work in utah so I don't see the need to take out 200k in loans.

Just withdrew after getting a full ride from Arizona. As much as I liked SLC and Utah, its hard to turn down free law school. Hopefully this frees up some cash for the rest of yas!

Free Law School! That is awesome. Best of luck to those who withdrew from The U
I was waitlisted last week. But hopefully one of your spots can go to me
Utah is a top choice. Anyone else on the waitlist? Or know of stories of people getting off the waitlist at Utah?

Re: Utah c/o 2017 Applicants
Anyone have any tips on how a poor brother might swing a scholarship to the U? I'm admitted and will be going to the Open House Friday. Out of state tuition is killer though. I've got a 158 LSAT and 3.6 GPA so I know I'm on the low end of things but by the looks of a few people with scholarships on this thread pulling out I guess I'm hoping that some of their dollars might be thrown my way. Does anyone know the typical process they go through with redirecting scholarship funds?

I agree.
Anyone know how the WL has worked in the past...
(feel free to PM me if you have experience)
Sounds like there is an open house/admitted students day this weekend. Admitted students should definitely give us hopefuls the low down.I'm admitted and will be going to the Open House Friday

Don't expect anything. I have a 168 and have full rides to higher ranked schools and only got 14k per year. I was told they don't "match" scholarships. Ultimately a very poor experience trying to negotiate with them. Really turned me off.NotoriousPAG wrote:Anyone have any tips on how a poor brother might swing a scholarship to the U? I get ya. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Anybody know why The U took such a dive in the rankings? No matter the ranking, it's obviously a great school but did it fall on account of the dean situation or what?
