I am considering deferring my acceptance at another school. On the contract it says "withdraw applications from schools you have already been admitted" does that mean that I can stay on the stanford wait list? I havent technically been admitted just waitlisted lol

Yes. You can stay on waitlists.

However: you cannot defer admission off a WL. So if your deferral plans are set in stone, no point staying on Stanford WL since you couldnt attend anyway.

So I need some advice....
I honestly would really like to live with a roommate regardless of where I go, but it looks very likely that I would be signing a lease before I would hear from Stanford.
Consequently, there is a suuuuuuuuper slight chance that I could be massively screwing a person over by signing a lease with them and rejecting it to go to SLS.
What's the standard protocol for this? Should I risk it or should I just resign to living in a studio as a 1L?

Not sure if you'd be screwing them over because you are going to be responsible for half the rent if you don't attend there and can't find a replacement roommate... if anything, the dude you leave high and dry would only have to pay half rent and get the entire place to himself

Also wondering this. The letter said they want a response by May 15. I sent the response via snail mail a few weeks ago, but haven't gotten confirmation.

Mine said May 22nd. Did they send out different dates depending on DLS date?

No, I think it's by how much they like you. The later the date, the better - so congrats catatat!

dead law student

no but actually, "A decision letter has been sent" replaces application submitted for review on your SLS Online Status Checker.

Back to my original question: do we get confirmation that they've received our intent to remain on the wait list? I'd rather not call and bug them if no one else has gotten anything

I emailed and they confirmed. I would not have received any other form of confirmation if I hadn't asked for it

Also, I do not know how credible this is because they could just be lying to me. but I asked if they could possibly tell me how big the wait list is and they told me that due to the fact that they do not rank the wait list that they have no idea or that they dont keep track. Like I said i donit think I actually believe this but I just wanted to tell everyone else what I was told.

This is definitely a lie. While there's some chance that the office assistant that answered your phone call actually has no clue, there's no way that the actual admissions folks don't keep track of their waitlist.

they obviously keep track of the total size, but I doubt they're lying to you about not ranking. Stanford will draw based on demographic/medians. a ranked WL would be useless

ya that what I figured. And I was speaking to someone at the front desk so that probably also had to something to do with it, as someone above mentioned it

Are there any ideas on how they assigned deadlines? Mine was on the 15th
