It's most certainly the latter. Their website says they preselect applicants to receive the application when they are admitted to the law school, and then the trustees select students based on need and merit from the that pool. What I don't know and can't figure out from threads of years past is what percentage of students who apply to th alsf actually get it.patricksouthern wrote:I got my packet today as well and am a bit confused -- it says I "qualify" for the Atlanta Law School Fellows scholarship (tuition and fees) but asks me to fill out the same application. Does that mean the application is just a formality and I have the scholarship? Or does it mean I'll be considered for the scholarship after filling out the application?scruffy556 wrote:Any bumper sticker or other swag?Marath0n wrote:Received the snail mail acceptance letter this afternoon. No direct scholarship info, just a blurb on the checklist that all admitted students are considered for scholarships.
So far I'm leaning towards GSU. Just waiting on $$$ info from schools I'm accepted to.
Eta: never mind, just got mine.
Etax2: it says I qualify for the als scholarship and to fill out the attached application...and no application was included...
Etaforthelasttime:actually it was, I thought it was a generic financial aid app.

It should have been sent on 12/17, or at least that's when it seems like they got everyone else's out. Check your status checker to see if they sent it then.bandenjamin wrote:I was accepted on 12/4 but have not seen a snail mail package yetshaynislegend wrote:Got the early acceptance via status checker, any idea how long from status checker acceptance something formal came in the mail for you guys?
Either way you should probably be in contact with the admissions office.

Just an update I received an acceptance email yesterday, they said I would be receiving the snail mail package soon. I will continue to update. Is anyone going to visit the campus any time soon?

GSU undergrad alum here. Dropped an app this week. I can answer any questions about Georgia State, the campus, the city, etc., but not the law school specifically.

Congrats on the admit, where does gsu stack up in your school choices? I visited last fall after I had put the application out, it was worth the trip into the perimeter.shaynislegend wrote:Just an update I received an acceptance email yesterday, they said I would be receiving the snail mail package soon. Re: Georgia State (2012-2013)
Applied last week, still in prelim review.
I'm planning on part time, so this is my first choice school.
I applied to UGA, but really don't want to quit my job to do full time, so I'm in a weird situation where UGA is my backup to GSU. Strangely, UGA has already accepted me (despite being a super splitter).

I live and work in Atlanta now so it is up there among my top choices. I also applied at Emory, UGA and MSU but GSU seems like the best situation.

Any idea what the GSU ID number is good for at this point? I have been hopeing for something that goes over all the different classes and basic pamphlet info... Kinda weak GSU.

Went into review 2/4, does anyone know if the process is faster than their 4-6 week period?

No, but I am curious if getting that email every week is going to continue till we matriculate.erin0715@me.com wrote:Is anyone applying for the IP scholarships?
On the scholarship note however, I wonder how many people are applying for the ALS scholarship. Deadline is this Friday I believe.

Turned in my ALS application earlier today. It looks like last year, scholarship decisions were made toward the end of March so it looks like we'll be waiting a while...

Good luck with the rest of your cycle. Have you had any promising acceptances elsewhere?

Re: Georgia State (2012-2013)
Just got my acceptance to GSU and it was completely unexpected...156/3.37...did my undergrad here and just finished in December but I am nontraditional in age (30) and have good work experience...maybe that helped? Anyway, I have been living in Decatur for the last 2.5 years and if I decide to go to GSU I will hopefully live around there again. If anyone has any q's on Atlanta/GSU/the south or anything, feel free. Pretty damn surprised to be honest!
Status checker had me on committee review on 2/7, just for those of you still sweating it out. Good Luck to all!

You'll want to look at Inman Park, Candler Park, Midtown, Virginia-Highland, Poncey-Highland, Old Fourth Ward. Some would include Buckhead, but I would not.erin0715@me.com wrote:Where do most of the young 20-somethings live/hang out in Atlanta?ofe1818 wrote:JIf anyone has any q's on Atlanta/GSU/the south or anything, feel free.
