From what i've read that means you might be getting in, just reconfirming you want to still go there. When did you send your application and when did you receive your first letter of wait list?

As i said its still a might be getting in, doesn't guarantee it. If you try searching it you will find that, its a way to sort out the ones who still want to be truly considered for the wait list rather then wasting time on a possible very long list of people who have committed to somewhere else already.

Got in a few day ago, came via good old fasioned postal mail.

So I am still on the waitlist and my status check still reads, "the admissions committee will not be reviewing these files until after June 2012"..... do i have a realistic chance of getting in or should I cut my losses and accept the fact I will be going to school somewhere else?

You def still have a chance but in the end, its all about your comfort level. The law school waitlist shuffle happens until the very first day of class.
