I was on the waitlist last year until the day before classes. But this time around my letter came fairly quickly...but in total it was a year an a half almost from application to acceptance. Haha. Good luck, guys!

Your situation is pretty unusual. Has it been killing you waiting for school to start or has it been nice having all of this extra time to prepare?

Hi Everyone, I am new to TLS and I applied to BYU!
Although I am Not a Mormon, BYU is my top choice. I love the Idea of an Honor Code because it will produce a unique environment

Hopefully I will be accepted, but I think I have a very low chance because I am not part of the LDS church

I don't think not being part of the LDS church will be held against you in your application. BYU wants to have some diversity in its entering class, just like every other law school. And because of there are so many applicants that don't want to go to BYU because of their strict rules, I'd imagine that they would seek out applicants like yourself.

It's been nice, actually. I've been able to work and take a break from school. Also, my fiance and I got engaged this year and are getting married in June...may not have happened had I gone last year. Always a reason for everything!!

If anything, not being a member will help you! I am in the same situation. PM me and I will share some more about my application/admission experience. Even though they said they don't conduct interviews, I drove up to Utah to talk to Dean Hernandez, and he seemed pleased, almost excited, that a non-member was applying for a reason other than the low tuition.

That's why I applied, not just because of the cost, but because I thought BYU and its community could offer me something no other school could. They appreciate that, I promise. PM, we'll talk.

That's right. Everything does have a reason like you waiting "literally almost 1 full year from application to rejection."

So, unless I missed something, the only ones on here who've heard anything are the early admits? It seems like alot of schools have been slower this year, but not like this. Anyone know if this is just typical of BYU?

A little slower than normal (I looked at past threads and they usually had a few dec admits, a chunk in jan--- but typically the bulk later in the cycle. I would guess most of the class will be admitted this month.

My status checker says my app hasn't been looked at since 12/15... anyone else in a similar boat, or does everyone else have more recent dates?

Actually I noticed you're on alot of the forums I check, we applied to at least 4 of the same schools! If you really are set against Byu I hope you contact the school soon to free up your seat. They don't seem too keen on giving many of them away.

Also, I'm curious as to what drew you to apply to OK and WI. Maybe PM me sometime.

Yeah -- this is really nice of them isn't it. I can just imagine how it would be to go to school with such people.

I got my scholarship package today. 1/2 Scholly. I'm pretty excited. Although the natural man is tempting me to attend a more "prestigious" school, the opportunity to attend a T50 for 15 grand is hard to pass up!

I hope that we start to see some more movement on this thread in the near future. Good luck to everybody that is still waiting!

Last status update was 12/15. Today it changed to 2/10. So rejection is probably imminent.

Mine changed to 2/10 decision rendered as well... but I did not get an email or anything... It is probably a rejection :/

Idk guys, there's no real reason to jump to conclusions yet. For all we know they're acceptances. I'd love to hear updates.
