Honestly it's obvious to everyone that Akron isn't on the same plane as Ohio State as an institution. It is my hometown however and part of me wouldn't mind staying there.

I have Ohio State on my schools I am applying to, but they are quite frankly on the lower end. Any of you receive Fee Waivers when you asked Via Email? I have a 171 LSAT and submitted my fairly stacked resume with the request.


I am living in downtown Chicago, and doing that while working a legal clerking job is tough. I don't know if I can justify paying the fee for a school I am not 100% sure about.

I don't think so. They asked at orientation how many students had gone to OSU for undergrad, and it was a HUGE number. There's a lot lot lot of OSU undegrads here.

I heard that also when I was applying (OSU undergrad here too). I don't know where that idea came from, but I think there is little truth to it. The only thing I could see is that they like to establish a diverse class in every way possible, including diversity of undergrad institutions. So perhaps if they were deciding between marginal candidates with similar numbers, that would be a factor.

I suspect they might do that because all applicants get access to buckeyelink, and they probably don't want duplicates.

Thanks! Just to clarify though, this was my second phone call. I received the "you're admitted" call on 11/28.

161, 3.8x. Applied and went complete on 9/19.

I am under review as of 11/30. I applied ED though. Guaranteed a decision by December 23rd. Getting anxious and nervous! Good luck to those still waiting!

1) 164/3.85 and an OSU Undergrad- Should I most likely just expect the 12K?
2) From your experiences (and you may not apply) what kind of scholarship outside of the merit based ones that were given and the diversity (not thinking im going to be in the running for that one) are available? How likely is FAFSA or financial need based scholarship going to be?

You'll get the $12k, 0% chance at anything else.

I'm applying at UA (Akron) as well, as thats my hometown and I have some connections through family that could probably get me a job or internship at the least, plus they give out ridiculous kinds of $$. I could probably expect close to full ride there, and I'm just not sure I want to have 25,000 in debt just to go to OSU (even though I love it here)

You'll most likely lose any $$$ you get at Akron, and its not a very good law school. Any job you could get from Akron (you mentioned connections) you would definitely be able to get from OSU, plus if you decide you don't want to be in Akron or you want to move later on down the line, you don't have that Akron albatross hanging around your neck.

Just throwing it out there that last year I applied slightly earlier than you (like a week) and didn't hear until 12/29. I hope you hear soon!
