This is probably a life-saver. Do not attend this school for any reason. You will be crushed by debt and unemployed.JerichoJohnny wrote:Yep. Put on hold. Kind of surprised, but oh well. I really would like to have as many in-state options as possible at this point.
Any idea when students that have been held can expect to be reevaluated? Is this tantamount to the the waitlist? Same thing happened to me at Miami.

Re: Florida International University, FIU Acceptance, Denial, Wa
So is the general consensus that the Jan 4th decisions were all rejections? My status changed on the 4th, but since i'm abroad I still haven't received my letter. Then after a week I finally got it emailed and after being upset about the rejection I realized they sent me someone else's rejection letter (they should let me in just for this ridic mistake). Come on FIU...

I got into Miami last week and am being held at FIU. Seems backwards. If only Miami was remotely affordable.

Held with a 2.68 and 160 LSAT, what does this mean? I thought I was in for sure.

...LSP...<5%...
He's actually a weak consider at <34%, big splitter though, above 75th LSAT, but way below 25th GPA
For most other schools I have heard that a "hold" is not exactly a waitlist, but more of a pause while they keep receiving applications. They are still interested, if not they would have either rejected you or waitlisted you. I would check with their admissions office just to make sure, I am sure they will be more than willing to explain everything.
Btw, how did you find out? If it was a letter I'm surprised it didn't come with some sort of explanation.

Are LOCI appropriate for holds such as this?

Re: Florida International University, FIU Acceptance, Denial, Wa
They sent it to me via snail mail. Just said my application is on hold for further review, nothing more. I simply figured if I was above the 75% LSAT I would have been accepted. I hope I can at least get into South Carolina, Mississippi, Missouri, Indiana-Indianapolis, or Mercer now. I am not happy.salsahips wrote:PARTY wrote:Duramax80 wrote:Held with a 2.68 and 160 LSAT, what does this mean? I thought I was in for sure.

Any movement with those apps? Anyone tried calling the office and asking when they will start looking at the holds?

Sounds more like a waitlist if that is the case.

Late May?? Did they mention anything about that being the LATEST they'll look at them, or do you think they'll start looking at them earlier.nataly1791 wrote:Nothing at all.. I emailed and they said we should know by late may which is a bit excessive for a hold in my opinion.

I will be withdrawing soon, so hopefully one of you guys being held will get in. Good luck to y'all. I have a friend who got off the waitlist here with a 3.5X, 155.

Admitted 1/10/12
Better late than never. Have any of the admitted members heard anything from FIU regarding merit scholarships?
Edit: If anyone is curious, I just called to ask. They sent out all the merit scholarships to applicants with 3.6+ GPAs and I believe she said 158+ LSAT. My GPA was just under that, but they'll send out more scholarships once people start declining.

Lol you'll be fine! I'm not even sure if that matters at all. I just asked because in the first page of this thread some people made mention to the deposit being there if it was an acceptance but they didnt follow back. Given your LSAT you probably got in...or worst case scenario (doubt it) youll be on hold till further review.
