For those who are interested, I toured BC recently.
Don't have anything major to say, just that I was all around unimpressed. The tour guide was nice, the campus was ok (not the same as under grad), the facilities were ok...., etc. Nothing stood out, including the answers to my questions about job placement. I was pretty disappointed and had higher hopes for this school. Nothing was that bad but nothing at all stood out in a postive way to me. I will not likely attend even if I get in, which is not a given, because after the visit there is no way I would pay close to full boat for BC (I do not expect a decent scholarship from them because of my low gpa).
disclaimer, this was my first visit to any law school, perhaps I have the bar too high....

I had a low gpa too, and I expected nothing and got 22k/yr in mixed merit and need aid. You never know.tuco wrote:For those who are interested, I toured BC recently.

I solicited a fee waiver. It took them a while to respond however and I had already submitted my app. They refunded me, however!

I got a solicited need-based waiver. I don't know beyond that.InGoodFaith wrote:Anyone know if BC does solicited waivers? I'm considering throwing an app their way to bump scholly offers with BU, but don't want to spend $70+ to do it.

Didn't get the chance to visit BU. Been kicking myself for applying so late to BU after successfully finishing all other applications forever ago. One thing for BU though is that it is in Boston. That is important to me. One of the things I definitely didn't like about BC was the suburub location. I visited in the middle of the day and there was a lot of traffic and seemed like a pain in the ass/expensive to live and get around in that area.

After much debating I submitted an app today. Kind of a long shot, only URMs have gotten in in the past with my numbers. I have lots of ties to BC so that should help, so we'll see!

I like it a lot, actually. The community feeling is great- there's really no cutthroat competition, at least in my section. Everyone is really chill and you do get a feeling of "we're all in this together". I've heard the other sections are a little more intense than ours, but I'm not sure how true it is.minnbills wrote:That's good to know. I know the facilities aren't amazing, this isn't Michigan haha... but they're adequate, and at least it's a newer building. I like the nooks and crannies you can find to study in. The only real issues I've had- the cafeteria is ass expensive, the coffee there sucks, and the building is always either freezing or boiling lava hot depending on where you are.
I am a 1L so I've just started interacting with the career services office, but the ladies in there seem really great. I think we've had at least ten presentations this month alone on jobs, resumes, etc. They seem optimistic. Most 2Ls and 3Ls I've talked to (which granted hasn't been many) have jobs. I really don't think coming here would be a bad decision if you know you want to work in Boston/New England. There is a big alumni base and the name definitely holds weight.

Most people don't live in Newton, unless they're renting a house with a bunch of other people. I commute, and traffic can be a bitch, but if you time it right it's not too bad. Most people live in the city and take the bus in from the main campus though. Cleveland Circle and Coolidge Corner are both popular places to live, and there's always much more going on there than in Newton.

Quick question for those of you who received fee waivers... what information did you send in to get one? I was pretty much told, "just email us your tax returns". I was wondering what exactly those of you who were successful in acquiring waivers sent in.
