WUSTL 1L here. Just FYI, there's a thread a current 2L (then 1L) started last year for prospective students to ask questions, which is actually still going fairly strong. It has gobs of relevant information about both admissions about top-law-schools.com, I'd advise going through it.

Don't overthink it. Having a law professor as your thesis adviser is one of the most powerful "Why X's" I can imagine, so yes, absolutely put it in, as well as going to undergrad here. "Why X" essays don't have to be elaborate, it's really more the thought that matters than anything else.franklyscarlet wrote:Thoughts on mentioning him in my why wustl (along the lines of my work with dr. X demonstrating the commitment to students and excellence of wustl law professors)? Wustl was my undergrad and I'm struggling with writing something other than "I know you're awesome, you know I know,so let me in, k?"80eight wrote:I would think that this would be a positive...franklyscarlet wrote:
edit: question number 2, although it's a stupid one: One of my letters is from my thesis adviser, who is a WUSTL law professor. Is that ok? Is it going to seem weird?
Wash U isn't a school that cares terribly much about a why essay anyways, don't overthink it.

Thanks. In a silver lining from my terrible October test, no way wustl will YP me at 3.5/168soccerfreak wrote:Don't overthink it. Looks like the first acceptance of the cycle is out according to LSN: http://lawschoolnumbers.com/killingly/jd (it's not me)

In the same boat but luckily, according to WUSTL's status checker, decisions will be emailed and not posted on the status checker so I won't be too obsessive about it.Ernert wrote:great, another status checker to check compulsively...

NOPE! Sorry, that was a mistake on my part that I didn't catch until reading this. Didn't mean to freak anyone out!Hopefully2012 wrote:Looks like the first acceptance of the cycle is out according to LSN: http://lawschoolnumbers.com/killingly/jd (it's not me)

Re: WUSTL c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
So there are two questions on the app:
1. Please list any diversity characteristics that you would like to provide: (maximum characters 300)
2. The Admissions Committee often likes to know whether an applicant has a specific reason for his or her interest in Washington University School of Law. If you have any comments that would be helpful to the Admissions Commitee, please include them below. (maximum characters 1000)
For the first one, do you think I could just copy & paste my diversity statement?
For the second one, does it have to be specifically about the a program/clinic in the school? Can it just be something like "I visited my friend and she showed me around WUSL and I loved it"? lol

Hello! I'm submitting my app tonight. I'm hoping they don't raise the LSAT wall above 168 (I'm a splitter).
How portable is a WUSTL JD? Not to say I wouldn't stay in STL, but how difficult is it to get a job in say FL? CO? DC? Other big cities?
Thanks!

good call! i hate status checking. i wish they could consolidate all the schools you apply to since they pretty much all use the same lsac template.Hopefully2012 wrote:In the same boat but luckily, according to WUSTL's status checker, decisions will be emailed and not posted on the status checker so I won't be too obsessive about it.Ernert wrote:great, another status checker to check compulsively...

I'm thinking about taking a year off, but I'm not sure yet. Would it hurt me for the 12-13 cycle to apply this cycle, get accepted, and turn them down?

You guys can probably afford to relax about the medians. There's no way it is going to 169 unless we get an IUB type donation and throw full rides at everyone. Pretty good chance it doesn't even stay at 168 with the drop in test takers.

Diversity--as long as it's within the word limit, they don't care. I wrote like two sentences.Schang1 wrote:So there are two questions on the app:

Why Wustl--Doesn't matter, you can include anything as long as it's rationally related to an actual interest in the school. Doesn't have to be academic.

I think a lot of us went UR on 10/20. That seems to be the first batch of applications under review. I would love a decision by Thanksgiving.

As far as portability, if you already know the area you would like to work, go to school there. Geography matters.UMiamiCane wrote:Hello! I'm submitting my app tonight. I'm hoping they don't raise the LSAT wall above 168 (I'm a splitter).

If, however, you're unsure which part of the country you want to end up, Wash U isn't a bad choice. Since such a tiny fraction of the people here are either from St. Louis or want to work here, there is not a huge target market that most students want to end up. That means that students here are from, and want to return to, a large variety of places. Our alumni network is pretty spread out.

Got solicited and unsolicited fee waivers from them today. Definitely applying with my 3.3/169. Hopefully this cycle is easier due to dropping applicants, and thus they accept me/give me more money.
