For a second I thought you meant me, and I was like I most certainly did not say that.Bildungsroman wrote:Subtle.jtemp320 wrote:If I pay full tuition it'll be at Columbia over two T14 full rides... (insane I know)
Also, Northwood, if you go crazy like Charlie Sheen, at least sell me the rights to the things you say so that I can put it into a book. Kthx.

I might as well be paying full tuition at law school and I also have UG and grad school debt. I'm actually not very stressed about it because I want to do PI law and am planning on Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Otherwise I might be a little more worried.

Unless NYU comes through with money, looks like I will be paying full tuition as well wherever I go... not looking forward to it.

Lol, the scariest thing about this thread and all the "I'll be living in a cardboard box" jokes is that it may sadly become the reality for someone that much in the hole. For those about to go into crazy debt, we salute you...

Yeah, it is even scarier if you use the loan calculator on finaid.org and it tells you what annual salary you need to pay your loan comfortably :-/

Somehow I see myself as one of those guys on a big city street corner with a sign listing my educational credentials and "WILL WORK FOR ______" on it.

Picking a LS that's very near a med school and/or hospital is TCR for everyone in this thread.
Or at least that's my plan.

Re: full tuition support thread
I fully admit that, if I hadn't done well (thus far) at the school I ended up choosing, I would have looked back and said to myself, "Why the hell didn't I just take the sticker offers from the T6 school". And I would be lying if I said I didn't seriously consider it. But I had the same moment of panic you all did. It was like playing chicken with another oncoming car. Though you all have more guts than I do, since I bailed under the pressure. I'm just praying that I can also do well 2nd semester, and secure myself the type of 2L summer job I want. Until that point comes, and everything is totally secure, there will always be that tugging in the back of my mind that asks me why I just didn't take the safer (albeit more expensive) route.

Me! However, I calculated that as long as I get a job paying $100K or higher then even with the debt law school becomes a better financial decision than no law school after about 6 years of working.SchopenhauerFTW wrote:Anyone still paying off their student loans for undergrad?
I'm hoping my 2L summer associate position will cover all of my living expenses for third year. If that's the case, I'll get out with about $140K-$145K in law school debt

All I can think is, "Please please please let IBR, especially the Public Service option, still exist when I need it."

That calculator is scary, but it also assumes you only pay 10% of your salary towards loans. Anything above that is considered an "economic hardship." If I'm making $100K or more then that's enough money for me to pay like 20% of my salary towards loans, save for a house/retirement/emergenices and still have a decent standard of living, even in a city like DC or Boston.NCtoDC wrote:Yeah, it is even scarier if you use the loan calculator on finaid.org and it tells you what annual salary you need to pay your loan comfortably :-/
