Re: Michigan Waitlist 2011
I'm just wondering how frequently people talk with the office and by what means (phonr, email etc). Also not sure how much there is to say other than "let me in. Please" lolchimp wrote:Define extensive. You mean like actually going in there and talking to someone in person?mistermister wrote:has anybody had extensive communication with the office?

Re: Michigan Waitlist 2011
does anyone know about housing options for those who come off the waitlist? if i'm taken off, i'd really like to live in the lawyers club, but i'm guessing it'll probably be full?

Re: Michigan Waitlist 2011
terrible news for us. even if we stay on the WL, not too many people will be taken off most likely...tea_drinker wrote:I just posted in the Michigan 2011 thread, and reposted it here since it is relevant to this thread's interest. The Michigan waitlist website just updated saying they will release some WL folks by the end of this month.

Oof.. that hurts. It also sucks that they are releasing people by regular mail. I know that Mich likes to keep things traditional but I really wouldn't mind an email!

I DID think this waitlist was a little big for the admissions office to be "familiar" with.

Re: Michigan Waitlist 2011
does "an increase in deposits over prior years" mean they are going to be over enrolled like last year? or just means that for this point in the year, the deposits are above normal?
is their deadline tomorrow? or end of the month?

First deposit deadline is April 30th. I think they just have more deposits than normal.mistermister wrote:does "an increase in deposits over prior years" mean they are going to be over enrolled like last year? or just means that for this point in the year, the deposits are above normal?

Re: Michigan Waitlist 2011
Im pretty sure they've been overenrolled the last 2 years. In both of those years im not even sure anyone got off the waitlist. I think this year will be more of the same. I wouldnt hold my breath guys. Michigan is on the top of my list, but I think this one's over. Good luck to all those who wish to wait.

Re: Michigan Waitlist 2011
I swear they waitlisted 500 people. Seems like half of the applicants on LSN were waitlisted. If they have been consistently overenrolled why have such a huge waitlist? I dont get it!

Re: Michigan Waitlist 2011
It is possible that deposits are just coming in faster than they have in the past and they can be absolutely certain prior to the deposit date that they won't need to touch however many of us are released. I'm not sure if this indicates deposits as a whole are increasing, rather than the timing of the deposits has changed. Optimism...FTW?

I also think another very real possibility (or at least partial possibility) is that they ended the bulk of their cycle and realized they waitlisted wayyy too many people.

Whatever the case, I sure as shit hope I survive past this round of WL cuts...and eventually get accepted...before July.mistermister wrote:I also think another very real possibility (or at least partial possibility) is that they ended the bulk of their cycle and realized they waitlisted wayyy too many people.

Re: Michigan Waitlist 2011
April 29 I believe. From what I've been told they have both a higher number and a higher % of deposits than normal for this time. I don't know if they overenrolled, but regardless the class is filling up faster than expected and there will likely be very little wait list movement. If you survive the first cut but don't hear anything by the second deadline at the end of May I think your chances will be next to nill.

Re: Michigan Waitlist 2011
What does everyone think of a LOCI from a Michigan (med school and undergrad) alum/donor at this point in the cycle? Any chance it'll increase my (admittedly minuscule) chances of getting off the waitlist? Or, if I already know I'll be applying again next year, should I just scrap it until then?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed AND holding my breath. My #1 choice, but by all accounts a WL acceptance this year is unlikely. What a shame : (
