Heck, I'm in-state and I haven't heard anything. Their admissions office is not the most tightly run ship... or at least, it's about one month behind everyone else's.

I was afforded the honor of a spot on the "scholarship waitlist", which, if activated (by may 15th) would be the usual 7500/5000 deal.

Does anyone know if it is particularly difficult to change to in-state after the first year?

We're "Kansans".t3hevildonut wrote:From what I've read, I don't think it is possible. I think you have to be in the state a year before going to school. Unless you were just being funny.
Yeah, it is a great deal, but you have to be totally prepared to work in KC, Lawrence, Topeka, etc.

Yeah, they were nice enough to remind me that although I wouldn't know about scholly until 5/15, my deposit was due 4/15.

This. How ridiculous.0LNewbie wrote:Yeah, they were nice enough to remind me that although I wouldn't know about scholly until 5/15, my deposit was due 4/15.
Although, Lawrence still rocks... But screw the Jayhawks basketball team for being one of the 7 teams that screwed my bracket to hell.

Re: Kansas 2011
I think what pushed me over the edge was when I considered what would be the best return on investment. I was deciding between KU and Pittsburgh but am from the DC area so I'd pay out of state both ways. When it came down to look at both financial packages and scholarship offers, it was hard to choose Pitt over KU when the other school would involve me taking out at 50k per year in comparison to KU where I would need about 20k. When I was looking at possibly having 150k of debt after 3 years of schooling, its very hard to justify. Although I imagined myself in a city atmosphere, the idea of being locked into an amount so substantial that would require me to work crazy hours at a big law firm to make the debt tolerable was not something I wanted. Whats good about KU is that its education at a great value and should maybe 10 years down the road, if I wanted to pursue a different career path, the weight of debt wouldn't be so substantial.

I see, I see. That is definitely one of the big benefits. I was originally on the scholly waitlist as well. I got an email, because they said they wanted to "let me know as soon as possible" but that a formal letter was on the way.t3hevildonut wrote:chrisbru wrote:Just got offered $12.5k first year/$5k 2nd and 3rd years... I'm on the scholly waitlist, mind asking them to send it my way? Did they tell you via e-mail/snail mail?

I also just got an offer, 10K/10K/5K... I had all but written them off... now it would cost me about 20K to go there, total, and 75K to go to Wash U. Gosh darn them. Hard decision.

Wash U, no question. Sorry, but the extra $55k debt is easily worth it.0LNewbie wrote:I also just got an offer, 10K/10K/5K... I had all but written them off... now it would cost me about 20K to go there, total, and 75K to go to Wash U. Gosh darn them. Hard decision.

Re: Kansas 2011
Nice to have someone say that so affirmatively. I'm not seeing it so clearly. I'd be fine with working in KC, that's the problem. But I'd like to be at one of the bigger firms here, and I think I could maybe do that more easily from WUSTL.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
