Wow. From zero to snob in three months w/ a 161 LSAT? Intriguing. While your GPA is admirable, its not outstanding, and your LSAT puts you in the bottom 50% at this "TT". Congrats if and when you matriculate to an outstanding school, but get off your high horse would ya....? XOXOsamfii wrote:In w/no $$, lulz if they think I'm paying sticker for their TT

Re: Pepperdine 2011
I don't think samfii really "put herself on a high horse" because let's not forget pepperdine is one of the most expensive schools in the country. 200k With no scholarship -- to live in Malibu, is a lot of money. I got 20k and still wouldn't attend. So take a chill pill and move along1ferret! wrote:Wow. From zero to snob in three months w/ a 161 LSAT? Intriguing. Thanks, Stonewall. I was just blowing off some steam, I didn't mean to offend anyone. Obviously I think Pepperdine is a good school otherwise I wouldn't have applied... Anyway good luck to the rest of youStonewall wrote:I don't think samfii really "put herself on a high horse" because let's not forget pepperdine is one of the most expensive schools in the country. 200k With no scholarship -- to live in Malibu, is a lot of money. Re: Pepperdine 2011
Got my packet yesterday. $42k/year, contigent on top 3rd of class. That's for the Dean's scholarship. I applied for the Faculty Scholars Award but it didn't say anything about that.
For reference: submitted Dec, LSAC file was complete around 1/11, complete with Pepp the following week, DR last Friday, WaveNet account Tuesday (first said complete, later in day said admitted.), Packet Wednesday.
Good luck to everyone! I want to see what UCLA has to say and if it involves money, I'll go tour, but I already have my undergrad there and, for various reasons, Pepp is my top choice so I'll probably end up accepting.

If my status is decision rendered and I haven't gotten an email, that probably means accepted, right?

Do they email you about your scholarship info? I ask because they still have my European address as my local address (even though my app said I was moving back to the states 15 December). I know its gonna take forever to get forwarded to Chicago.mia137 wrote:Got my packet yesterday. $42k/year, contigent on top 3rd of class. That's for the Dean's scholarship. would you really shut down such a vastly better school like that? Even without moneymia137 wrote:Got my packet yesterday. $42k/year, contigent on top 3rd of class. That's for the Dean's scholarship. I applied for the Faculty Scholars Award but it didn't say anything about that.

Nope, I got nothing via email except for the Wavenet account. Through Wavenet, I was able to see I had been accepted but the scholly info came entirely though snail mail. Good luck.

Yup. To be honest, the money isn't a huge deal to me. I'm lucky in that I could afford to go to any school I get into with no scholarship money and no loans, but it means something to me to do it all on merit, if that makes sense. But what it really comes down to is that I have absolutely no intention of going to work for a big name law firm. I would never even entertain an offer, let alone apply for one. Obviously, if that was my goal, I would be going to the best ranked school I could go into...but then, I also would have retaken the LSAT and aimed for a top 3 school. For my goals, I don't think the ranking of the school will make much of a difference, within reason. Pepperdine is very well regarded, especially locally, and will give me another valuable network. I am confident that I will get a fantastic education there and I feel that Pepperdine also offers a lot of amazing opportunities, like the study abroad programs that anyone can do, and no one gets turned away from.
Bottom line is that I think I will be happiest at Pepperdine. It's close to home, beautiful, has a very nice culture, and will provide a great education. I feel lucky that my goals don't conflict with me desire to go there.
I know a lot of people will think I'm making a silly decision but I think it's right for me.

Re: Pepperdine 2011
So I just read through the "Pepperdine" thread and kept seeing all this talk about people getting accepted to the faculty scholars award program -- then I realized I was reading 2010 posts.
Anyway, anyone have any thoughts of when we might hear about the Faculty Scholars Award this year?
