Haha, I thought it was a nice gesture. Plus, it's my birthday this weekend so Thanksgiving is one of my personal favorite holidays.daisyduke wrote:nihilism is key wrote:haha yes i received this and was NOT amused.genkidesuka wrote:Did anyone else get the "Happy Thanksgiving" email?! Even knowing that NU hasn't even started reviewing RD applicants, I got excited when I saw the address. Someone at that office is getting a chuckle out of this.

I'm glad I read this thread before I got the email. That said, the email still surprised me. You can just see a whole office of adcomms saying "omg isn't this thing cute?! Let's send it to everyone!"

Meh, the e-mail subject is pretty straightforward. Would you really expect an acceptance email to have the subject "Happy Thanksgiving [...]"?jswilson27 wrote:a whole office of adcomms who never applied to (or don't remember applying to) law school...Hannibal wrote:I'm glad I read this thread before I got the email. That email made me want to apply even though I don't have enough WE to actually get in.

Agreed. I still have my email acceptance from two cycles ago and the subject just says "Northwestern Law" lol.Lwoods wrote:Meh, the e-mail subject is pretty straightforward. I thought it was super friendly
Has anyone gone complete there? I know they said it could take a month, but I'm just a couple days shy of that now...

Okay, maybe I should drop them a line after the holiday. I can't interview, so I'm thinking there may be a snag there.

I want to ED now, but I used my ED on UCLA back before I even considered Northwestern. Now deeply regretting that. Wish I could say I was with you!eliekedourie wrote:Is anyone else ED or am I all alone?

Nope, not a word...eliekedourie wrote:Have you heard back from UCLA yet?
I thought about trying to withdraw the ED from UCLA and then ED to NU, but since I've had my interview and everything and am "complete" at NU, I assumed that switching to ED would be impossible or might "look bad."

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
As someone who withdrew ED from UCLA to ED at UVA, I'm sure it made me look terrible in light of all the positive things I said about UCLA Law in my application and the fact that I had already taken a class there. Don't expect a positive result from telling a school, "I like you, but not THAT much."Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Nope, not a word...eliekedourie wrote:Have you heard back from UCLA yet?

Re: Northwestern 2011 Applicants
Yeah, I know it'd look horrible, I mean how could it not? For that reason among others, I am going to play the hand I dealt myself and see how it goes. If it's really bad this cycle, I can just study harder for June and then re-app next cycle. A year of doing nothing would suck, although perhaps I could add even more awesome "soft" action to my apps and throw in a Teach for America gig (They keep sending me e-mails!)gatorlion wrote:As someone who withdrew ED from UCLA to ED at UVA, I'm sure it made me look terrible in light of all the positive things I said about UCLA Law in my application and the fact that I had already taken a class there.
