If they gave me a shirt then I can wear it to the ASW, otherwise I may have to wear a shirt with a different school name on it lol

I haven't been able to log in, probably won't be up for a while. Does last years thread have any indication?

Congrats everyone! UT is a great school and Austin is a great town!
To answer the questions I saw, ASD events are all day Friday with an optional tour of the school and Segway tour of the city on Thursday afternoon. (there was also a tour after the event on Friday for those who couldn't attend Thursday)
There were 200 dollar travel "scholarships" last year. The consensus was that merit scholarship recipients also received them. They just randomly showed up over email a monthish before ASW. And I'm pretty sure that no one had luck just requesting them.

Which bio? There were the two that came out almost simultaneously. I read most of Goddess of the Market, and I own all of her major works and most of the minor. So outstanding, I don't care how much it marginalizes me, obv.
No, No Ayn Rand and the World She Made.
STELLAR.
really makes you understand her as a person.

Truth. I own everything she ever wrote, yes including anthem etc. no one usually reads more than one of her books, but it's well worth it.

I want THIS so badly. Will have to work at big law for a year to afford it lol

I remember when we were assigned the read the fountainhead in 8th grade. It was god awful so I had to spark note it. Even the sparknotes were miserable. Insufferable, that is all.

Wanted "roark" but it was already taken.

+1

Atlas shrugged has been on my "to read" list for too long. I think I am going to bump it up a few notches.

Egregious trolling. TBH though I would not expect an average 8th grader to appreciate the Fountainhead or Ayn Rand in general. Even if you do not agree with the overarching message, I could not see how anyone could argue that the writing quality is bad.

I'm pretty moderate-lean slightly liberal and I absolutely LOVE Ayn Rand.

I've read Anthem and Fountainhead, got through most of Atlas Shrugged. Fountainhead is probably one of my favorite books ever. Atlas Shrugged was too long, but I was much younger so perhaps it's time to revisit it.

yah, I have only read anthem and fountainhead as well... absolutely loved fountainhead, on my short list of best books.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
