To the people that got in: 1st, congrats. 2nd, can you tell us your standing--were you above/below at median. I went complete 12/3 and am still sitting there.

Re: South Texas 2011
I'm in today via email, too. But it appeared to me from the email that we needed to apply separately for consideration for scholarships?

Also, to answer your question, I'm well above the 75% LSAT and just below the 25% GPA...just like most of the other schools I've applied to. Ugh, being a splitter sucks.txadv11 wrote:To the people that got in: 1st, congrats. 2nd, can you tell us your standing--were you above/below at median. I'm above the LSAT 75th but well below the 25th GPA. For the admitted, I haven't heard anything about an Admitted Student's thing. Is there any event planned yet?maxm2764 wrote:I'm above GPA median and at LSAT 75th. Also, I called the admissions office and they said that all applicants are considered for scholarships and they should let us know by April 1st at the latest.

Thanks so much for taking the phone call bullet! I kept meaning to call, then getting swamped with more work at the office. =Dmaxm2764 wrote:Also, I called the admissions office and they said that all applicants are considered for scholarships and they should let us know by April 1st at the latest.

I would certainly hope it would be before April 1! that would be cutting it kind of close to all of my other deadlines. Le sigh. But thanks for making the call!maxm2764 wrote:Also, I called the admissions office and they said that all applicants are considered for scholarships and they should let us know by April 1st at the latest.

Re: South Texas 2011
Do you get a good sense that most of your fellow 3L's have decent jobs lined up? I know people don't really go to South Texas thinking biglaw, but do the people who do have jobs lined up feel comfortable with the amount that they will be making compared to the debt that they took on to go to STCL?Grad_Student wrote:If there are any questions about the school, area, living, jobs I'm here.

What is the living situation there? I am familiar with the Houston area as far as street names go but have no idea where apartments or housing would be. Thank you in advance for your response.Grad_Student wrote:If there are any questions about the school, area, living, jobs I'm here.

Housing and apartments are everywhere? The closer to the school you get, the more expensive stuff will be. Midtown is mostly brand-new condos and apartments.

Where should I look if I wanted to protect my vehicle--like a 1 car garage?

Re: South Texas 2011
I don't really think so. I live in Montrose, and park on the street. No one in my building has ever had a problem w/car theft/break-ins. There are some weird pockets of sketch around Elgin & Westheimer, but unless you're planning on living somewhere like the Fifth Ward, I doubt you'll have any problems. If you stick w/the downtown area, the closer you get to 59, the worse it is, generally. (This doesn't apply outside that area, though.)txadv11 wrote:Where should I look if I wanted to protect my vehicle--like a 1 car garage?
Edit: this might not be true if you drive a BMW or a Benz or something. But I can't speak to the upper middle class, haha.

Thanks Upfish!
I drive a upper-end SUV, but it is not a reflection of my current assets (taking 100% loans in LS)
