East Waco is just such a slum, it really detracts from the niceness of the law school, and Baylor campus in general.

Haha have you been to Waco? I am thinking only to visit very shortly. EVERYTHING in Waco takes away from the "niceness" of the law school and undergrad. Waco is the most borin town you will ever have to find yourself in. This may be good because it will keep your head in the books with no other options. Yeah, I grew up about half an hour away in small town, so Waco is where we went to do anything (movies, restaurants, shopping, etc.), which is kind of sad. West Waco is boring and baptisty, and E. Waco is abject poverty, drugs and crime. You're familiar with it, I take it?jt1341 wrote:Haha have you been to Waco? I am thinking only to visit very shortly. I goo to school in Austin, went their for a couple MOAS tourneys. Basically spent a week there once and at other times 1 weekend a year for 3 years. ALWAYS bored when i went there. The bars were lame and the people were not incredibly fun. Do you go to Baylor for undergrad?Marionberry wrote:Yeah, I grew up about half an hour away in small town, so Waco is where we went to do anything (movies, restaurants, shopping, etc.), which is kind of sad. Nope, we share the same UG institution, as a matter of fact. I'm still living in Austin at the moment. I have seriously entertained the idea of Baylor Law if I don't get into my first choice, and am still waiting on a decision, but I don't know if it's where I want to be.

Im on the exec board for PAD and their dean of admissions came and spoke to us. Sounds like the have a good (and hard) program. Their second quarter (they r on the quarter system) is basically a moot court which would prove valuable and be an awsome experienceMarionberry wrote:Nope, we share the same UG institution, as a matter of fact. Why thank you. I was jacked up Friday night. We were at a local production of Fiddler on the Roof. I checked my email on my phone, yelled, got up and left the theater. People stared. I didn't give a crap.thewarflamingo wrote:Oh wow, awesome! The divide is horribly depressing, but the law school is a good place to take the lsat.Marionberry wrote:Yeah, I grew up about half an hour away in small town, so Waco is where we went to do anything (movies, restaurants, shopping, etc.), which is kind of sad. In general the people are laid back compared to dallas and austin, but I guess that is a given.
I grew up 40 miles south-west.

Hmm it seems like they are deciding on the high gpa (>3.5) people first.

I'm not really worried, as they do not seem to turn down LSATs well over their 75th. Also, it's not a top choice of mine so I'm not real concerned one way or the other, though it would be nice to have at least once acceptance in my pocket.

I'm a little irritated at how my GPA gets me treated like a leper by law schools. They don't even want to touch my application, whether or not they're going to admit/ding me.
