Sometimes people's words rub you the wrong way. It happens, and I don't see it as a big deal, so long as both parties are mature enough not to let their verbal argument give way to an outright fistfight.

I, along with many TLSers, applied around the same time and received a complete email on 11/18. You should probably call the admissions office just to make sure everything is in order.

So, I have a UGPA of 3.68 and an LSAT of 158. I would really like to go to a top 30 school, so I was going to take a year off to retake the LSAT. HOWEVER, I just received a fee waiver from Emory. They specifically targeted me for being LGBT. I for sure thought I would not stand a chance of getting into Emory, but now I'm wondering...

Here's my question: is it worth my trouble to apply? As in, quickly drafting a personal statement, get letters of recommendations, etc.? I've heard Emory has major commitment to diversity, but does that mean accepting students with LSAT scores lower than the 25th-75th percentile range? Does anyone hear have any perspective? Some advice would be so helpful! Thanks!!

LGBT is not particularly diverse at Emory in general - likely the same at Emory Law. It's only $12 with your waiver, but its doubtful LGBT will make up for 8 LSAT points - that 166 seems like their golden ticket.

I hate to revisit this point, because I've made it on another thread, but it really seems like Emory doesn't have its shit together. After all the hoopla caused by that Above the Law post last year, you would think that the school would go out of its way to portray itself in a positive light.

I'm the one who made the original point on this and I just want to be clear about why...I'm not trying to bash Emory - it's because I do like them that I am so concerned. I think I'd enjoy going to school there and would get a good legal education, but I'm worried about what seems like a series of missteps.
