Thanks everyone. The first phone call was very short, they were basically checking on my desire to attend Marquette. Then I received the e-mail yesterday stating I was admitted and my paperwork was being sent via over-night express mail. I have to get all of my paperwork back to them by next Friday along with a $700 deposit.

Is anyone aware of any upcoming deadlines for admitted students that may trigger more waitlist movement? Also, is it very common that spots become available the day of orientation?

According to Mona10 (she was just admitted of the WL) final deposits are due on August 6th. She was admitted after the final intent to enroll letters were due, and presumably someone who was didn't turn in this form or indicated they were not going to enroll after all.

So, in theory there is outside chance that someone could get admitted either after the final deposit deadline or after the first day of orientation when they notice a blank. Of course the latter would be conditional on them not having already over enrolled a bit.

Hope that helps. It looks grim, we're all in the same boat.

Thanks for the info! Im holding on till the bitter end. If nothing happens, I will be re-taking the LSAT in October and re-applying for next cycle.

If we do hear anything, I don't think it will be coming until after this Friday. I think that is when Mona10 said that tuition was due or final deposits.

Fingers crossed though, that's for certain.

Admitted students have no more deadlines. I'm assuming the 700$ deposit due by tomorrow is for people who have gotten in from wait list.

I think its unlikely that Marquette offered spots in their class to those they were unsure of whether or not they'd accept. Remember, Mona said that they called first to gauge her interest before offering a spot in the class. So I'm not sure how likely it is of them going back to the waitlist.. unless of course people don't show up at orientation. I'll keep an eye and an ear out for you guys. Good luck.

I'm currently a Marquette undergrad and thinking about LS. If you don't mind me asking, what are your guys stats? Are you URM? etc. I feel the LSN chart is not sufficient.

Yeah, I kinda figured the jig might be up. Hopefully not, but this is pretty late in the game to say the least. Keep us informed if you hear anything, and thanks.

Hi all,
My papers that were to be sent via overnight mail did not get delivered to me until Tuesday. I had to called Monday and tell them that I didn't receive my papers and I was worried about the August 6th deposit deadline. The paperwork arrived with a postmark of Monday (after I called). The instructions stated that my payment had to be in the office by August 6th and they underlined that this does not mean "Post Marked August 6th". I drove to the law school today and hand delivered my deposit rather than using express mail. I had questions about my financial aid and schedule and the people in the office were vague and told me that I would get more information in a day or two. So I can't tell you anything other than anyone who was taken off the waitlist last week has to have their money in the law office by tomorrow.

Does anyone know if the standards for admission to the part-time program at Marquette are equivalent to the full-time program? Has anyone spoke with the admin office recently regarding the waitlist?

Well if you look at TLS's school description they say that the numbers are slightly lower for admission. However, you have to remember that many of the PT candidates are going to be applying with significantly more work experience/life experience, so they might have better softs.

Now according to the Marquette website and their adcoms, there is no difference and the numbers they are looking for are identical.

My guess (and I stress guess) is that the numerical standards are a little bit lower for PT, but they will be looking for additional reasons you want part time other than "I don't think I can get into the full time program". Also, they admit a very small number of part time students so if you're a splitter you might be better advised still shooting for full time.

Also, Marquette seemed to be extremely number sensitive this last cycle. I think their downgrade to T3 has shaken them up more than they're letting on.

Orientation starts August 23rd, class on the 25th. At this point, I think any possible movement is going to be based off of how many folders with name tags are left unclaimed at the sign in table on the 23rd. Again, that's if they aren't already over enrolled by a few people.

I have been on the waitlist since 12/19/2009 and I have been holding on hoping I get called off. I have sent them numerous LOCI's, updated transcripts (MBA) and activity updates. I spoke with admissions on Monday and they said the class is completely full but there will be spots that open during orientation.

It looks like the end of the waiting is just around the corner for all of us. No matter what the outcome may be, I hope everyone here is satisfied with the outcome and enjoys their 1L experience to the utmost, no matter what the school.

Thanks for trying anyways! If spots have opened up.. do you think they will begin calling tomorrow after orientation or would that have already been done today? Also.. any suggestions for re-applying to Marquette? I know they keep your full application and LOCI etc. on file.. does being wait-listed the cycle before give you any push when re-applying??

Hey guys, called admissions today.. they said that no spots had opened up and they were not sure when they would notify the waitlist. Not very helpful. Let me know if anyone hears differntly.
