Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
My cycle is as follows:
Numbers: Cancel/163/174, GPA: 3.68, easy undergraduate institution (but with extenuating family circumstances which also contributed to the inconsistency you see in the LSAT scores... often worked two and three jobs), collegiate athlete, campus leader, volunteer, got all of that on lock right... applied right after the December LSAT
Accepted:
Minnesota: 30k/yr
Illinois: 30k/yr
Notre Dame: 25k/yr (seeing if they can offer me more... seriously... they are the nicest admissions staff in the world, but I don't know whether that really will equate to more funds)
Vanderbilt 20k/yr (honestly one of the schools I would like to go to... funding is tight, however, even with the generous offer... these schools seem to forget that they cost $60,000+ per year to attend after you factor in living expenses)
USC 15k/yr (same situation as Vandy, but Vandy has me 5k closer to being in the game)
Denied:
Yale (we can all dream right)
Michigan
Waitlisted:
Columbia (first reserve)
Virginia (with an awesome response letter)
De facto waitlists:
Most top 25 schools that aren't listed here who just haven't told me anything
I haven't really heard much from the other schools I applied to. I did do the whole apply to about 20 school thing because I was hoping to match offers as a means to getting into a nicer school that I would otherwise not be able to afford. My interest is in International law and Human Rights with a hankering towards diplomacy in the future (but to be really honest, I will probably change my mind at least five times while I am in law school). From the offers I received thus far, I am weighing between Vandy (which I may have come up with a way to fund after all... I really have no viable cosigners... long story... just cry for me at night, ok?... ok) and Notre Dame. Although it is off topic, could some folks impart some wisdom upon me about what I should do? Thank you everybody.

Oh, I forgot to add that I speak Arabic and French (not totally fluent, not horribly... somewhere in between... if I studied either for a month or two... bam, fluent again) which is tied again to my whole interest in International Law and Human Rights. Thanks everybody. =D

+1, I got into NU and a few other good schools with those stats + work experience. Also, the American WL was clearly YP - they waitlisted basically everyone over 165.scribelaw wrote:Don't go to Seattle or Loyola with a 172 LSAT. If you did ED at Virginia, you'd have a great shot. Strong chance at Michigan and Northwestern (with a year removed from undergrad), too. Wait until next year and apply early in the cycle.ktalene wrote:Rejected: U Michigan

Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
I did get the Berkeley WL, which is hard to come by considering they just flat-out reject so many people. Numbers are 171/3.75 range.
So with that I have:
Yale: Rejected
Harvard: Held
Stanford: No response
Columbia: WL
NYU: No response, probably WL/reject
Berkeley: WL
Chicago: No response
Penn: No response
UVA: WL
GULC: WL, then accepted
Michigan/Duke/NW/Vandy/USC/UCLA/Texas: Accepted

Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
Got another waitlist, this one from Iowa. I'm likely out of that pool of applicants, Iowa is a great school but the midwest wasn't my top option as a place to live. For those of you looking at Iowa good luck, hopefully my withdrawl will improve your odds!

Re: Must be the Year of the Waitlist
Any advice from fellow WL-ers... ?
I'm accepted at Drexel and Widener ($$) and Rutgers sent me a strange e-mail asking if I'd consider enrolling for a summer course and then start in the fall..
But I'm WL at Nova/Temple/Wake Forest
I'd be happy at any of my WLed schools, but Rutgers needs a response ASAP - any thoughts?
Also, how does Drexel weigh against Widener ?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
