Kind of all over the place, but I did apply to UGA and if I got in I would strongly consider going there. Proof? Go ask an IUB 2L if their freshly minted t25 label has brought them any more firms/offices at oci.

It's tough to distinguish between Chicago trolling and just plain old-fashioned NYU bashing. The two are definitely related, but distinct, branches of trolling.Illijah wrote:this would make a pretty good poll

Re: The new U.S. News rankings????
NYU bashing operates at a far higher level than Chicago trolling. No one wants to go watch fun die; it's more likely the fact that people hate hipsters, NYU = hipsters (I know, I know, the lawl school isn't overrun, but this is TLS. What'd you expect?), therefore people hate NYU.AngryAvocado wrote:It's tough to distinguish between Chicago trolling and just plain old-fashioned NYU bashing. As is assuming that the t25 label had any effect whatsoever during the 1st year in which the school was ranked that high.DanInALionsDen wrote:No.miamiman wrote:When are ppl going to realize that usnwr is completely independent of reality/hiring/life outcomes?

Edit: Also, I won't be heartbroken if I'm shut out of the T14. I don't fully expect it, but it's a distinct possibility if UM and GTown decide not to bite (Duke? With this GPA? Columbia? Without having spent years abroad as an international something or other?). I like WUSTL and expect good money from them, so I'll live if it happens. I'd rather be in St. Louis, Atlanta, or Nashville than Ithaca any day.

Are you agreeing with me then? My point is that the rankings are obviously not independent of reality/hiring/life outcomes. The only way they would be wholly removed from reality/hiring/life outcomes is if they were based on completely irrelevant criteria (Cooley rankings), and is judges, lawyers, and firms did not heed the rankings.stratocophic wrote:As is assuming that the t25 label had any effect whatsoever during the 1st year in which the school was ranked that high.DanInALionsDen wrote:No.miamiman wrote:When are ppl going to realize that usnwr is completely independent of reality/hiring/life outcomes?

Re: The new U.S. News rankings????
Nope. The rankings are almost certainly independent of reality, at least in the short term. Or more accurately, reality is independent of the rankings in the short term. Maybe it did happen, but I sincerely doubt that IUB saw any non-negligible benefit from being ranked #25 this year. Next year, maybe. The year after that, even more likely. Legal hiring is a system that is unlikely to immediately react to smallish changes, but will almost certainly react to those changes given enough time.DanInALionsDen wrote:Are you agreeing with me then? Oh whatever. Does anyone have that link to the US News Top 14 rankings since 1990? It shows NYU being 4 or 5 every year going back more than 10 years. Re: The new U.S. News rankings????
Apologies for some hyperbole. Usnwr is roughly refleftive of reality, though, again, the point is that these miniscule increases/decreases in rank amount to absolutely nothing important - at least nothing any student at that school would benefit from. Case in point: someone would be delusional to pick IUB over ND given rank. They'd be equally delsuional to think UT is a better school than UCLA if they broke their tie, especially if they wanted to end up in texas.
Rather than focus on usnwr, 0ls, imho, should be talking to 2ls at any school they are considering and find out what's happening on the ground.

I've actually decided not to go to law school in lieu of my acceptance to a masters program that better suits my career path. As Badfish said earlier in this thread, I don't have a horse in the raise. I'm just a neutral observer.regatsrj wrote:
