I tried calling yesterday and earlier this morning and I got an automated message saying they couldnt answer the phones, not sure if its busy or if they purposely know people would be calling so screen the calls and then reject them hahah

I haven't had an e-mail answered from Barbara Vinson yet either, and I sent it out two or three days ago. For a while they were calling me every other week or so to check in, now I can't get in touch to see if they're offer is enticing.Stryka wrote:I tried calling yesterday and earlier this morning and I got an automated message saying they couldnt answer the phones, not sure if its busy or if they purposely know people would be calling so screen the calls and then reject them hahah

I got the automated message as well. Pretty sure they didn't even come in today. They are probably in left field having cocktails before the baseball game tonight.

Re: Ole Miss c/o 2013
Does anyone think it's possible that Ole Miss had finished contacting its admitted applicants earlier this month and they were simply deciding between waitlist and denial applicants during the last couple of weeks?
(I have not seen an "Accepted" student on LSN for quite some time)

I really can't imagine this being the case. I hope Ole Miss wouldn't waitlist/ reject me with a 161, 3.45 and strong softs and work experience.

A few applicants have updated their status on LSN within the last day with all three possible choices (acceptance, denial & waitlist) appearing...good luck to everyone.

I spoke to someone at the office yesterday, and she politely checked the status of my file and said I was "still under review" and not to worry, I would hear of a decision soon in the next week. I inquired as to what format this would be... she said definitely snail mail, but they try to call as many candidates as they can. Let's pray for good news! Good luck to all of you

Out of state admissions there are considerably more competitive, though your numbers are strong for either category. At this point, write an addendum restating your interest in the program, and if it's your first choice go ahead and tell them you'll send in your deposit and commit as soon as you get your acceptance. Oxford is a charming little town and the women are gorgeous. Hope you get in.waverider wrote:Genericswingman wrote:Does anyone think it's possible that Ole Miss had finished contacting its admitted applicants earlier this month and they were simply deciding between waitlist and denial applicants during the last couple of weeks?

Re: Ole Miss c/o 2013
I called up the admissions office. The dean of admissions told me that my application was still in circulation. I asked her when I could expect a decision. She told me that my application is in circulation and that once each member of the admissions com. reviews the app the app is discussed at the admissions meeting which occurs every Thursday. She said they will not be having an admissions meeting this week because of the holiday. She basically said that no new decisions will be made until after next Thursday's admissions meeting. She told me that I could call back next friday and check on the status then. She did mention that I had strong credentials. I was surprised with how upfront she was about the process but am still dissapointed that I won't have a decision for at least another week.

Thanks for calling.
If the committee to select the new mascot is anything like the law admissions office, we won't have a mascot for the next couple football seasons.
Worst & laziest admissions office I've dealt with by far.
Are you kidding me? Since when does a school get out for Holy Thursday!? I know for a fact Ole Miss has classes today and all the offices are open. They are only out for Good Friday, which the committee does not even meet on anyway.waverider wrote:She said they will not be having an admissions meeting this week because of the holiday.

But she said they were on there way out today... whatever that means.
I would think they would make a hugh effort to have decisions made by April 1st since many schools require deposits by that time.
Oh well, lets just hope we hear by the 15th

Re: Ole Miss c/o 2013
For what it's worth, I just talked to someone in admissions.
She told me the admissions committee IS meeting this afternoon. I'm guessing decisions made today won't be mailed until next Monday.
I was led to believe that a decision on my application would be made this afternoon. I applied on March 1. Possibly all later applicants (Feb-March) will be reviewed today.
Good luck to everybody.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek His will in all you do,
and He will show you which path to take."
