I think writing a heartfelt and extremely well-written LOCI about how much you love NYU and why you want to attend would be a strong submission, even if you don't really have a substantive update like new grades or a new job. But I'd wait to send it until you get a WL (and hopefully you won't), especially since it's only been a month that you've been UR.ppch wrote: 1/10 here, just WL'd at Columbia and Chicago. Considering writing a LoCI now based on earlier discussions in this thread, but I'm afraid I don't have much that needs updating (out of school, in the same job, blah blah blah). I'm tired of New York too, but NYU is a dream school for so many reasons (of which not having to uproot my life is maybe the least). I wonder if it wouldn't be too horrible to send a "no, really, this is my first choice" letter at this point, but I'm borderline, so it's not like they'd otherwise YP me or anything like that. It would be the first ding or WL that would *really* hurt, though.

They are just holding us for the great ding/wl release at the end of the month. B) I have been "UR" since early November. The Gentleman wrote:I'm pretty sire NYU has placed a de facto hold on my app. Been UR for almost two months.

I went DSL today.
Tried to log into the ASW, but it was no match.
I am a Canadian, so I used the Canadian social insurance number instead of ssn. (anyone know whether or not SIN works as the ASW username?)
what's the consensus on how long we have to wait after going DSL for us to find out via ASW login whether we are in or not?

Re: NYU 2011
It really depends. Some DLS dates went live the next day (but they were in the middle of the week). I was a DLS 1/21 (which was a Friday) and we weren't able to log in until like 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Don't take your inability to log in as a sign that you're out until someone confirms that (s)he can sign in.

been UR since 1/7. Retaking LSAT tomorrow should I tell them before hand so that they don't make a decision or just wait to include it in a possible LOCI if I get waitlisted??????

I know I can't complain when others have been UR for longer, but I feel kind of left out with a 2/4 UR date and no 2/11 DLS...

Re: NYU 2011
hmm people are saying different things regarding submitting a LOCI before or after a WL. i've also been UR for over a month (since 1/5) and don't know if i should submit a LOCI now or after i hear back. i have a feeling i'm headed to WL (or worse, a ding) and i really want to be in NYC
any more thoughts on this issue besides those who have already commented?

I think that if you don't have a SSN, you use your LSDAS identification number without hyphens or dashes.wsjch05 wrote:I went DSL today.

Woot! I'd rather live in Chicago than NYC, but at least a DLS from NYU (I've been held at Columbia) will let me decide/move on sooner. UR 11/11, here.ilovemulch wrote:this gives me some hope! Whoops. Sorry for the ambiguity.

But good luck to everyone else still waiting!

Gotcha. No, you weren't unclear, I'm just being silly. I hope we all move soon! However unlikely that might be, supahstah has given us all hope.vegenator wrote:
