I have literally nothing to do at work today, so I was reading last years thread.

on march 10th 2014, the hls facebook group had 425 members. does anyone know how many the current group has?

I have this irrational fear that kitty will be naughty during the interview though and puke on the rug.

I SURVIVED!!!!!

It was with JS. She was very nice and friendly. I didn't get the "why law" or "why Harvard" questions. She asked about how my English major might have prepared me for law and then asked why I was interested in the particular specialties I'd mentioned in the personal statement. It was still terrifying, but a little less scary than I thought.

I requested to join the group after getting the email from JS with the link. That was early Tuesday and my join request still hasn't been approved. So there may be quite a few people that have requested to join but haven't yet been approved.

sure, but the same thing would have likely happened last year too, so I don't think it's a big deal.

I expect they've given out way more than 286 offers, but I also expect they would have given out more than 425 at this point last year. so it's probably safe to say HLS is AT LEAST 139 acceptances behind last years pace.

Delusional optimism is all that some of us JS1s have, y'all. Don't go 'round ruining it for us :(

3/9 JS2 here, I'm in the same boat. I believe the Facebook group numbers don't yet include anyone joining from the 3/8 and 3/9 wave.
I was in the first week of Feb. wave - it took them a little under a week to approve my request, and along with me I think they added 50-100 people in one swoop. I'd imagine it'll be something similar when they finally login and approve all the requests.

right, but i'm sure it took a while for hls to accept the requests of the 3/9 wave LAST year as well. if anything more so, because the 425 number was as of 3/10 2014.

just so we're clear, there's probably WAY more than 286 admits so far (286 + 3/8 and 3/9 wave + all the people who don't have facebook + the people who don't request to be in the group, etc). but last cycle, the same stuff would have happened. so as of march 10th 2014, there was WAY more than 425 admits (425 + 3/8 wave + etc etc).

no matter what the actual number difference is, this is good news for us waiting for js2s.

If you go back a few pages, someone roughly ran the numbers. Last year there were about 150 JS2s reported on TLS--this year so far we have ~90. So they've filled their class roughly 60%. If memory serves me there were roughly 700 people in the HLS c/o '17 Facebook group when everything was all said and done--425 is about 60% of 700. There may only be 286 applicants now but the 3/8-9 wave was pretty big so it makes sense why there's been a delay in giving everyone access. It's possible that FB has become less popular in the last year and TLS more popular (both make a lot of sense), skewing the numbers a bit (not that I'm being very precise right now), so maybe they've only admitted 50-55% of the class. No matter how you slice it they still have a lot more offers to extend.

I realize that the consensus is that a cat avatar is a luck charm for Harvard. I'm sure this has been discussed here and I am probably asking something more basic than what is LSAC but at 197th page of this thread I think I won't get too much hate for it.

so.. what's up with the cats?

I am going to adopt a two-pronged strategy in response to this:
1. Become delusionally optimistic about my chances of receiving a JS2.
2. Massively short Facebook stock.

Either way i win, kinda. Right? Right? Tell me it's going to be okay.

TLS doesn't have enough lingo, so we should create a name for having one's request to join the Harvard facebook group approved. I nominate "JSFacebook."
