Do we think there will be more waves in time for the next ASW?

iirc the next asw is april 18-20.liz9332 wrote:Do we think there will be more waves in time for the next ASW?
since it's assumed the WL will go out end of march/beginning of april, yes, I think there will be more acceptances in time for the asw.

I'm so nervous about my JS1 interview tomorrow, and even more nervous thinking most of us are destined for the waitlist at this point.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
If you look back a few pages it seems clear that Harvard's only admitted about 60% of its class. Also, something like a quarter of the waitlist gets accepted eventually anyway. For what it's worth something like 900 of 1100 JS1ers last year were eventually given offers. Your odds are still really good so keep your chin up!racic22s wrote:I'm so nervous about my JS1 interview tomorrow, and even more nervous thinking most of us are destined for the waitlist at this point.

That makes me feel a little better. I'm confident talking about all the parts of my application and what at Harvard interests me, but it's going to be those pesky "Tell me about yourself," and "Why law?" questions that are so open-ended that will kill me.IngmarKurosawa wrote:If you look back a few pages it seems clear that Harvard's only admitted about 60% of its class. ^I actually didn't have any of those open ended why law/why H/etc questions in my JS1. Almost everything I was asked in my interview was about my resume and how law in general and H specifically fits within that.

I got "Why Harvard", but it was prefaced by "We very rarely ask this question, but for [some good reasons], we want to ask you." [some good reasons] being the fact that I have strong ties to the bay area (stanford grad student) and love my job (in patent law) here.

It means Kindergarten through JD. It refers to people who don't take time off before applying to law school.racic22s wrote:What's "KJD"? Oh yay! I've taken two years off. Something that gives me an advantage for once!

Urrrrrrrrgh. Silly University of Michigan is trying to make this a difficult decision, offering me 40k a year in grants. But I still have my heart set on Harvard *fingers crossed* with the dual program with Cambridge offering International Intellectual Property law. True, it's super competitive even within Harvard, but no other school has anything that even comes close to it.

Definitely moves it above my other safety so far though.

Good news is it makes me feel pretty spiffy and like I'm a good candidate. Hopefully that helps with the JS1 tomorrow.mujiali wrote:Wow. That's a lot of moneh.racic22s wrote:Urrrrrrrrgh. I wonder why some dates have higher admission rates. Do they group KJDs into same interview slots, which explains the difference?

That wouldn't make sense though because we get to pick the interview slot within a given week.blueberrysmoothie wrote:pylon wrote:Here's a bit of an update for everyone:

We get to pick interview slots, but those numbers are based on interview invitation date (i.e. when HLS sent the JS1), not the actual interview date.racic22s wrote:That wouldn't make sense though because we get to pick the interview slot within a given week.blueberrysmoothie wrote:I wonder why some dates have higher admission rates. I don't think they do it by KJD status, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that strength of applicants by LSAT/GPA differs by wave (especially the early JS1 waves).

For you non-KJDs, watch out for a question tying your resume to the law. I got tripped up on a "what kind of law" question when my interviewer wondered why I didn't mention [something i had experience in].
Also, I got js2'd on April Fools Day so there is plenty of time. And also, if you get the call on April 1 its real lol
