And maybe they knew that all along, otherwise with your numbers I can't see why you'd be turned down. I would hope their method is a bit more sophisticated than it seems to us all. Hopefully they weigh factors such as competing scholarships, acceptances, LOCI, in an effort to separate those who want to attend from those who would use CLS for scholarship leverage only.FisterRoboto wrote:Whatever, I much prefer being in Greenwich Village anyway.

Maybe I shouldn't have written my personal statement about being a Washington Square Park bohemian, then... My app was tailored to NYU, and I just tweaked it for Columbia (NYC or bust!), so maybe you're right, and they are smarter than we give them credit for being.checkers wrote:And maybe they knew that all along, otherwise with your numbers I can't see why you'd be turned down. Am I reading this right? You talked about Washington Square Park in your personal statement?FisterRoboto wrote:Maybe I shouldn't have written my personal statement about being a Washington Square Park bohemian, then... Just to clarify, is Columbia's "reserve" essentially their waitlist?

I guess we should be proud to make it to reserve since there are so compelling candidates and there has never been a more competitive year for admissions.

Oh you're so fancy Columbia--you have a reserve and not a 'wait list' like those other schools

I'm really trying to understand the logic here...JSWright101 wrote:But really I doubt this. If people are starting to realize law school is a terrible idea... WHY is CLS giving students so much time (Hold, Reserve, Waitlist, Limbo, Purgatory...) to consider our poor life choices? I get the whole YP thing... but there's just no way they could really have that much room to dick people over.

Does Columbia ding via mail? I haven't heard anything so far, and at this point I'm hoping for a reserve.

Are Columbia's apps actually down? CLS is hardly representative of law school in general. Their placement is superb and it's a ticket to the upper middle class. If the increased transparency of law schools has taught us anything it's that you have to go big or go home. Maybe top applicants are switching from money at regional schools to sticker at CLS?mirroroferised7 wrote:I'm really trying to understand the logic here...JSWright101 wrote:But really I doubt this. Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Their apps could be up but there's no way their competitive apps are up. Everyone with a 170+ is already applying to CLS and the number of these applicants are falling.SFrost wrote:

Not sure about this cycle, but last cycle they had the second biggest drop in applicants among the T14.
