Thanks. I was complete on 01/22. So almost exactly 2 months for the decision. Considering the thousands of applications they are likely sorting through, not bad.

I don't think Michigan discriminates in giving out $$ (I know they don't with ED and deferrals), so if you have the numbers that would have gotten $$ in a reg decision, I don't see why the WL would change that.

The FAQ section seems to suggest a not completely rosy picture:

"Candidates who receive offers from the waitlist receive consideration for need-based grants on exactly the same terms as those admitted earlier in the season, and most of our financial aid resources are devoted to need-based aid; people admitted from the waitlist , however, are less likely to qualify for merit scholarships."

It could be that we on the waitlist are "less likely to qualify" because, taken as a whole population, we have stats that average below the qualifying floors. Hopefully that's the case. But it could also be true that we're less likely to qualify simply because we are on the waitlist.

The only thing I can think (besides the number issue, which I'm sure is a big factor) is that maybe money starts to dry up. If money's available and you have the numbers, I can't really seeing your chances being that diminished from normal...

My roommate said I just got a letter at home from Michigan Law... curious as to what this is because I'm currently waitlisted. I can't log in to admitted students site and my status checker says "decision". Any idea what this thing is? Has this been happening to other people? Are they just checking to make sure I'm alive?

It might be a letter saying your application was withdrawn because you didn't respond to the waitlist offer. Call them and let them know you did want to be considered on the waitlist.

Yep, I asked about this last week. Starstruck said a letter came a couple weeks after the acceptance letter and maholamontana said "my letter came about a week after my admission letter." My status want to "Decision" either the same day or the day after I received my snail-mail acceptance last week and I haven't heard anything about scholarships yet. good luck!

Rejected by snail mail today. I wouldn't mind, but it took them 5 months to tell me.

Rejected today. Utterly shocked. At 169, ~3.7, that seems to be pretty much unheard of (according to LSN). Plus, they've had my application since the beginning of November, so if I was going to rejected I figured that would have happened a long time ago. Looks like I may not be going to law school next year after all.

Why not a blog post saying how they screwed up the waitlist response survey and that people are undoubtedly being withdrawn from the waitlist despite responding to the survey? Or did I miss that blog? Less rants, more helpfulness (but that applies to the internet as a whole lol). I wouldn't want to be the guy who lied about a scholarship, maybe he should have read this article rather than learning the lesson first hand like one of my classmates did: --LinkRemoved--

Yes mine did too, but I considered a waitlist being snubbed. I have an entitlement problem. They were very nice when I called to fix the waitlist problem though, so thats a plus.

When did you apply? If you just got in recently, and have the numbers and softs, you might still have a chance. If you've been in for any appreciable length of time, I'd say you're chances are then pretty slim...

Got in last week. LSAT is below median, GPA higher. Don't really think I have a shot but one can always dream.
