By the way for those of you that were interested in what I did last night. I used the LSAC data stuff to estimate the applicants with a higher LSAT than me. Then I took all the schools class profiles ranked ahead of WUSTL and used their class size and LSAT percentiles to allocate those students. I was trying to see if a 168 median was realistic (bad for me) or if WUSTL would have to settle for 167 (good for me)

There was a lot of guessing, a lot of estimating. I didn't come up with anything useful. It was a big ole waste of time.

I would be shocked if the median got up to 167 this year. I'm guessing 166, honestly. Maybe 165.


Also, I mostly stay away from the lounge in general, and I never really caught why this bruss guy is so butthurt. What on earth can happen on a law school forum to compel someone to troll so desperately?

Really? I feel like they'll push hard for 167 and if they can't maintain that, draw the line at 166. 165 would indicate a downward trend, not just an anomalous year. Not that the resulting slight fluctuations in ranking matter, but it could deter future high stats applicants in a vicious cycle.

It is very likely I'm way off base, but I just don't remember seeing them dip as low into LSATs as they have this year, at least not initially. I know LSN is far from representative, but they were much less relenting with their LSAT wall last year, and still only got a 166 median.

I don't know, I'm not hoping to see a downward trend, but I've just got a feeling that the hit in applications is going to hit schools without a major market (like Wash U, but also Iowa and some others) disproportionately hard.

Which, incidentally, is why I'm very optimistic for big money in this year's cycle. They don't want to fall too far from the 168 of ye olden days.

But yeah, I would put the chances of a 168 median around .1% - unless of course there's some crazy scholarship wall. Man, I hadn't thought of that...

I mean practically it's the same as like a 2.8 or even 3.0, but I would guess they are worried to some extent about how likely admits are to do well in LS (not saying you won't but that UIUC report talked about how they placed a lot of emphasis on ugpa predicting LS success).

Well...I said this in another thread but I have abouts as good of a reason as any for my Gpa. So much so that my UG took some courses off and I graduated with a higher GPA. but the LSAC counted those. I am a few years removed from college too. Plus I know someone got in with 28k last year with my exact numbers. On the other hand Im scared and convinced ill be rejected forever.

I think there is a huge difference between 3 and sub-3, but I haven't seen as much of a performance gap between 2.5 or 2.8 for example on LSN. As a similar applicant to wannabe, really our only hope is schools that don't have a hard GPA floor, which for many T-50 is around a 3. If you can just get them to read your application, I think many 165+/sub-3 applicants have some kind of valid reason for why they performed so poorly in UG. I mean as dumb as the LSAT is, there is some correlation with intelligence.
