Re: Northwestern Law C/O 2016 (2012-2013 Applicants)
Submitted my tuition deposit! I feel so good to be done with this cycle!
Word to the wise, there's that Candidate Response Form we have to fill out, but don't forget to also do the Scholarship Response Form that was linked to the email for scholarships. I almost forgot...
Can't wait to meet a bunch of ya at ASW and in the fall!

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure of the purpose of the second form... Maybe they're just trying to recoup some funds... or they like seeing potential students beg?TripTrip wrote:"I'd like to matriculate without the scholarship, if that's ok. "I bet it stays pretty quiet until April 13."
Is April 13th the deposit deadline for regular decision 3 year JD admits?
If so, it explains the timeline regarding the release of 2 year JD decisions being released(ie, early to mid april). The school probably wants to see what its yield is like before sending out more offers.
Also, does anyone else get the sense that schools are being super-slow and uncertain this cycle(possibly because they're not sure where the numbers will fall)?

No, April 12 is the deposit deadline for scholarship recipients.DukeofCambridge wrote:"I bet it stays pretty quiet until April 13."

I thought NU was reasonable. UofC was painstakingly slow though.TripTrip wrote:No, April 12 is the deposit deadline for scholarship recipients.DukeofCambridge wrote:"I bet it stays pretty quiet until April 13."

That means we (hold applicants) might hear in a few weeks?TripTrip wrote:No, April 12 is the deposit deadline for scholarship recipients.DukeofCambridge wrote:"I bet it stays pretty quiet until April 13."

P.S. A quick question. I sent NU my optional essays 2 weeks ago (for hold applicants) and never got a reply as to whether they got it or not. I sent them another email last Friday asking about it. But again.. no answer. I'm guessing the admissions office is quite busy but I'm getting very paranoid as to why they haven't got back to me about it yet. Have they just decided to not take me anyway already?!!

Hah! I have not even yet applied to UofC. I may apply, depending on other outcomes(if I don't get admitted to Northwestern) as a transfer to complete the JD in 2 years.

a week between contacts seems to be a good measure - just wait and given them a call. Whenever I've called, they've always been very nice(tied with Berkeley for nicest people answering the phones, IMHO).

Re: Northwestern Law C/O 2016 (2012-2013 Applicants)
Yes I'm an international applicant, but I've lived in DC for about 2 years and NYC for a few months, except that underground in NYC during summer time is intolerant, I would say both cities are neither too hot or too humid all year around, so the weather is really a personally biased preference. I was comparing Chicago tap water to NYC's, I agree tap water is probably subject to quite stringent purifying in every state, but I wouldn't drink water right out of tap in DC like in NYC.snapdragon25 wrote:I think the person who asked the original question is international, so that makes more sense. But yeah, growing up drinking Chicago's awesome tap water has made me really picky about water.rinkrat19 wrote:The water is fine. In my building it's lukewarm, so I still use a Brita pitcher in the fridge just to keep COLD drinking water on hand, but it tastes fine. No need to go all tinfoil hat and buy a bunch of bottled water. (Did you know bottled water has lower--"lower" meaning less stringent--purity standards to meet than tap water anyway?)

I visited campus last week and snapped some pics, if you're getting revved up for ASW or are still anxiously awaiting a decision (like me!).

A beautiful building on a beautiful day.

Note the old-school and the new-school on either side of the atrium.

Very cool Dead Poets Society/Brideshead Revisited vibe in the old-school building.

Wishbone sculpture: I wished for good news from NU this month. Results TBD.

Must be a trip to have these guys lining the halls.

Everyone getting into the spirit of Easter weekend.

I suppose that might be what I'm going to have to do. I've been emailing them so far because I live half way around the globe and it's just hard for me to call.DukeofCambridge wrote:pammie0415 wrote:How long should I wait before I bug them again?

Also, they took some time to answer my call and a man answered. When I visited the school I only saw female staff, so I might actually have spoken to almighty Johann (but probably I'm just being paranoid, he wouldn’t pick up the phone would he?).

I've had a man answer who was extremely confused by my question..Johann definitely wouldn't have been confused by the question, so I don't think only women work the phones....Danny Boyo wrote:Also, they took some time to answer my call and a man answered. While waiting in the admissions office last week, I saw two guys that were switching off answering the phone, neither of them Johann.
