Seconded.

Highest grade: didn't really do the reading much after getting cold-called my one time the first month
Second highest grade: skipped the maximum 11 classes allowed by the prof (was also the first person to miss a cold-call in my section and that was fun to wake up to over a dozen texts with people freaking out)

Any insight on scoring clerkships? Do people launch from the Judicial Clerkship Externship?

the outlines are what they'll try to sell you on and they're not really as great as they sound like LGI said, but i would add that it can be a good forum for meeting 2/3L students who will be willing to help you/talk to you about their experiences

Hi guys - I know the general consensus on tls is to enjoy the summer before 1L, but as it gets closer to August, I think that I'd personally feel more comfortable feeling a bit prepared (even if it's all in my head)

Do you recommend any books to read that might help a 0L do well as a 1L? I've heard GTM is a pretty helpful read. Any other recommendations?

I'm already worried for legal writing, so can someone tell me what the textbooks required for the course are? Also, some of the professors have posted their required reading list, but others haven't..does anyone have old syllabuses they're willing to PM me?

I know I'm coming across as super anal, but for my peace of mind, I'd appreciate any advice on how to prepare (and please not just...relax and enjoy my summer haha) Thanks in advance :)

Wow. I'm not going to tell you to relax and enjoy your summer, but you should know that reading case books will do you zero good right now. You won't know what you are supposed to be taking away from the reading, and even if you did, you will probably have forgotten the cases by August.

There is no textbook for legal writing. I promise there is nothing you can be doing right now that will help you in legal writing.

If you are going to insist on doing something, then read GTM. It will give you a decent foundation on how to write an exam. Just keep in mind not all profs want exactly the same thing on an exam. I really don't know what else to suggest that will do you any good whatsoever. I had a friend that read LEEWS before school and thinks it helped, but I wouldn't do that. I know you don't want to hear it, but 1L is a grind. I would try to do whatever you can to make sure you are as energized as you can be this fall.

There's nothing you can do now that will help, and 0L prep can actually hurt you.

Haha thanks guys. Tbh I think people around me (who have never gone to law school) have been stressing me out when they keep asking stuff like "how do you have so much time?" "Arent you going to law school in the fall?" "How are you not super stressed?) -_-

In any event, thanks for the advice both of you :) I'll take some deep calming breaths and continue enjoying my free time lol

You'll also have a lot more free time in law school than you'd expect if you do it right.

At night I'm binging on tv shows and games I had been meaning to watch or play. It's great. This is one of the last time you'll have large blocks that you can enjoy guilt free. Do so. My summer so far:

bloodborne: best game in years
last of us and the expansion: second best game in years
heavy rain: great
demon's souls: pretty good so far
firefly: meh
house of cards: meh. the female characters tend to get brutally killed for shock value
uncharted 1 and 2: meh, I'm still going to play #3 next

I think one thing that really annoyed me about House of Cards is that *(hopefully vague) SPOILERS* the murders are annoyingly stupid: Here is the security tape. As you can see she is talking to someone out of view, then she walks around a corner and trips. Complete accident. That's probably the only angle. Sorry I can't help you more, but I'm busy helping the NFL with a Ray Rice investigation.
