It's all relative. Chicago is much less humid than say, DC. And the Lakefront's (Streeterville) cooling effect make it cooler than the 'burbs.
Telling someone from Oregon that Chicago isn't
that humid because DC is worse is like telling someone from SoCal that Chicago isn't
that cold because Omaha hits -30. It's humid, and it's cold.

I shall assume that Chicago is like that year-round.
It was 34F yesterday (28 in the morning).
OTOH, it was 71F on December 3.

I like what I hear but sometimes the love is borderline over the top and the cynical side of me questions its greatness. Sometimes it's worse than listening to Texans talk about Texas.
Texan here. Real talk: those other Texans are full of shit. Austin's a cool town, but this state is pretty awful. We've been in drought conditions pretty much since I moved here like 15 years ago... And what moisture we do get comes in the form of high humidity heat waves and/or flash flooding. State government is an ongoing carnival of horrors. We went from being the state run by George W. Bush to the state run by Rick Perry. Our public schools are so terrible that they manage to screw up the *rest* of the country's science and history textbooks. Oh, and the water tastes like limestone.

Telling someone from Oregon...
Small nit, but Oregon has plenty of humidity. It gets sooooo humid in fact, it collects in puddle on the ground....

Didn't say Chicago wasn't that cold, I assume its at least as cold as Omaha. I was saying since we both grew up in socal and i got used to Omaha weather, he should be able to get used to Chicago

The weather does sound depressing though. Scarlet, how did you ever survive the winter?
big fucking sleeping bag of a coat. Like, calf-length, eskimo level coat. Other than that, it was nice to have snow. It's not that bad.
And rink, not everyone is from Oregon. comparisons are nice. I'm from the Gulf coast- Chicago has never felt humid to me. I think we need to leave a little room for other people's opinions to be valid.

Drivers in Texas are the worst drivers I have ever encountered. Awful.

I'll vouch for this. I'm a terrible driver. All the open roads and high speed limits make me the least attentive driver possible.

Don't worry, I'm sure the stresses of 1L will be such that you'll basically turn into a zombie and won't even notice the weather

As a lifelong Chicagoan, I do think the city is great. I don't think you ever really get used to the weather, but it's fun to be excited on the first spring like day and the first snow. I've traveled the whole country and everywhere has its weather downfalls (except soCal...)

I have been basically checking the status checker every 30 mins since it is a Tuesday and I have not heard (applied in January). Just checked 10 mins ago and it said that a decision would be available via the digital status checker thing "within 24 hours." Anyone else get this?
I am sure I will not get an admit, but man this is TORTURE!

Waitlisted! Given that I don't have work experience and applied super late, I'm quite satisfied with this result.
