I'm amused that you've heard from Cornell, but not NYU, just because I feel like I'll be waiting on Cornell until the next eternity.

i was quick turnaround, with DLSs and accepted. just check the admitted student's website - probably within 24 hrs of the DLS date to determine if you got in. i was skeptical about whether ASW was a good indicator but got my purple envelope yesterday.

I would just put a cautionary note to say if you can't get in on the website that doesn't mean that you're necessarily rejected or waitlisted. There's a chance that the site isn't up and running for people with your DLS date. I was DLS 1/21 and we didn't have access to the site until midday to early-evening on the 25th. So if you can't get in, wait until someone has confirmed that they can get in before thinking the worst.

yes, exactly right. the ASW has been really really buggy, and only counts as an unofficial confirmation of acceptance. remember too when they ask you to put in birthdate, you include the "/"s - as i forgot to do this, and mistakenly assumed that i wasn't able to access ASW.

Well, I mean, if you can get on, it's safe to assume you're in. I don't think I've seen anyone post that they were able to get on and then received a rejection letter/email. That said, as we both said, if you can't get on, it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

So I'm hitting my three month UR anniversary pretty soon. When do you guys think NYU's going to send me a decision? July?

I've heard on TLS that they come later than the admit packet--February or March. Though a more specific narrowing down would be nice, so I know if/when I should try to negotiate.

If I have time I'll look back in last year's cycle and see around what date they were sent.

Yeah, I've been looking through the 2010 thread, but you have to wade through the majority of acceptance-related posts.

Edit: OK, so apparently the deadline last year to accept a Dean's Scholarship was April 2nd. But obviously that's still not a precise narrowing down...

There was also some talk in the thread about possibly e-mailing to extend that, though I didn't see any results of that attempt posted. Maybe it'd help if you explained your circumstances. But again, this is all conjecture until people start getting offers. It doesn't seem like anyone posted about exactly when they received an offer last year.

first off, congrats!

Same here. 11/3 UR. Come on, NYU, seriously? It's not like there's that many choices. Ding/WL/Admit already. (And I know it's a ding, so let's just use the Band-aid approach, please.)

have you guys contacted NYU or are you just waiting it out? if it's the latter you're much more patient than me.

Yeah...
So DLS 1/21 here and I still haven't received my letter. I'm going to call admissions on Monday and tell them it was most likely lost. I'm in the Midwest as well...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
