Hey sorry if this has been covered before, I looked back a couple pages but didn't see an answer.

Does the status date change daily?

mine says today's date (18th) but now I can't remember if this is a daily thing or not. I haven't been checking UVA very often.

It is not daily, but they have changed sporatically.

damn, i was hoping it would be a sign of impending acceptance, but i guess not. with my #s id be very surprised if i got in anyways. and especially so early.

i think mine used to be 9-something. or maybe 10-something. ive been pending decision/under review or whatever it says for a looong time.

but now i guess i won't be expecting anything else to follow!

I'm going to fuel the paranoia: my date never changed since going complete in Sept., but just changed to today's date. Maybe one last batch of decisions before Thanksgiving?

PS UVA...it would be nice to take some good news back for Thansgiving.

How long is it usually taking for out-of-state RD applicants to get a decision after going to "Pending Review/Decision"? Or is it all over the place?

If you can explain UVA's review process to me, you deserve to get into any law school of your choice. I'm convinced they grab a handful of apps from the middle of a very large pile and say "these are the ones we will review today."

My bet:

They review applications as they come, and have a HYS-esque process of choosing admits. They admit in-state applicants with decent to auto-admit numbers, and people whose PSs, DSs or Why UVAs that they find interesting. The rest are thrown into a "reject/WL-but-tell-them-later" pile, "Probably-but-lets-keep-looking" pile, and "not-sure-yet-pile". Unfortunately for many, they haven't gotten to these piles yet, or are just now beginning to.

I'd be willing to be most of the people who have already been admitted RD are either in-state or had something on their application that "stuck out" to the admissions committee, whatever that is.

All of this sounds dead on. Everyone who gets in this early gets the phone call treatment and to my knowledge that does not keep up throughout the cycle. I would say this suggests that the earliest admits are ones that "stick out".

Is it a big disadvantage if you're not from VA? I was hoping that people from out-of-state with strong numbers would still get a decent look.
