The text at the top of my status checker saying they are still considering my application is ENORMOUS today! It is usually very small. I get it, you haven't made a decision ... No need to yell!

I know from previous posts that you're in at Florida State. Why UT over FSU?southerngrace wrote:The text at the top of my status checker saying they are still considering my application is ENORMOUS today! It is usually very small. I get it, you haven't made a decision ... No need to yell!

Update on my status checker: Now the top in unusually large letters says WE HAVE RECIEVED YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF OUR WAITLIST OFFER . almost blinded me , the status is also waitlist with march 18th being the date. i know this doesn't help but keeping y'all informed with me as well.

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
I want out of Florida. I've lived here my entire life and I hate sand, humidity and palm trees. I have family in Tennessee, and I LOVE it there. I thought UTK would be a good way to get my foot in the door for a legal career in TN.Thunder Jones wrote:

But you're right, FSU is a great school and I feel really fortunate to have the option to attend there. It just ... in Florida.

Yeah me too. When I saw the text had changed I got really excited and I was expecting it to say "WE ARE SO SORRY TO HAVE KEPT YOU WAITING SO LONG. WE JUST REALIZED HOW INCREDIBLE YOU ARE AND HAVE DECIDED TO OFFER YOU ADMISSION WITH A FULL SCHOLARSHIP AND A PENTHOUSE DOWNTOWN FOR THE ENTIRETY OF YOUR THREE YEARS AT UTK"southerngrace wrote:The text at the top of my status checker saying they are still considering my application is ENORMOUS today! But as you already know...thats not what it said

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
To be honest, I don't see how they would lose many people during the second seat deposit. The only way that would happen is if a lot of people were taken off a waitlist at their other schools in between the May 1st and June 1st deadline. And so far, I haven seen much waitlist movement at many other schools on LSN. I really wish that I knew how overfilled they were at the 1st seat deposit deadline

You sound pretty bleak. Has UTK told you something explicit about how overfilled they are?southernboy wrote:To be honest, I don't see how they would lose many people during the second seat deposit. A guy just emailed me back on LSN and told me that he received the letter in the mail about 2 weeks ago stating that they cannot offer him admission off of the wait list. It is not looking too bright for us dear friends.

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
well I know that they were overfilled by over 50 slots at the april 1st deadline. As to how many people actually sent in seat deposits on May 1st, I have no idea, I just know that they were still overfilled. I'm no expert, and if I'm being bleak, its because I've been "In review" since november 4, and I still have not received a decision of any kind. But I do know that the people in my group (the people with blank status checkers who have not been waitlisted) will be accepted before they take anyone off the waitlist. Basically, I was told that I was apart of some sort of priority waitlist that they would hopefully be able to accept without officially waitlisting us. I dont know how many people are in my group, and it could be anywhere from 3 to 3000 for all I know. I'm really not trying to depress you guys on the waitlist, but that seems to be the situation right now. I would assume that there are enough applicants in my group to fill up any slots that might open up this summer without having to resort to the official waitlist at all, but I could be wrong.Thunder Jones wrote:You sound pretty bleak. Yes, at this time the class is still over subscribed. We have a second seat deposit deadline on June 1, so it is possible that the numbers will change at that time.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns.

Anyone get any change in status or anything at all today? I'm wondering if those who decided not to pay the 2nd deposit are starting to get phone calls.

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
called UTK today. She said that they are still waiting to hear back from some people for the 2nd seat deposit. I asked her how many people had sent in the 1st seat deposit on May 1st and she said that they were overfilled by 20-30 people as of May 1st. I guess that means they had 170-180 people who sent in the 1st seat deposit. How many people have sent in the 2nd seat deposit only time will tell. However, the director of admissions is gone until monday, so the lady said that we will definitely not hear anything this week

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
just had a conversation with a rather unfriendly member of the admissions staff today (she must have been new because I did not recognize her voice). Here is a script of our conversation.
Me: Yes Ma'am I was wondering if there had been a count of the amount of second seat deposits that had been sent in?
Her: Yes
Me: Oh great! do you know the exact number?
Her: Yes
Me: Um...ok how many seat deposits have been sent in?
Her: We are oversubscribed
Me: Well I know that but by how much?
Her: I don't know if we are at liberty to give out that information
Me: You don't know? um.......ok.......its been given out in the past, but...
Her: At this time I don't know if we can give out that information. We are oversubscribed
Me: ok.....well thank you....you've been very helpful
end of convo
To be honest her tone of voice and her very abrubt answers struck me as quite rude compared to the other admissions ladies I've spoken to. Whatever, at this point I don't give a crap anymore

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
I'll be curious as to what their median numbers look like for this incoming class. It seems like they (over)filled way to early. I'm afraid that it's curtains for those of us on the waitlist.
