Fellow splitter checking in. I don't have any good news yet, but hopefully that will change in the next few weeks/months. Is anyone else retaking the LSAT in February? My GPA sucks, so every point I can gain will help.

Not retaking in February, but if I don't get into a school that I REALLY want to go to, I might end up retaking in June and reapplying next cycle, while working on a foreign masters in the meantime. I don't want to settle for something as important as this.

Question to multiple LSAT takers on this thread: Do the schools hold your lower score against you? They have to submit the highest score for their stats but you think that If you make a big jump the second time around you won't be looked at as favorably as someone who got it right the first time? I'm a reverse splitter (which fuckin sucks btw), ganna re-take in june if I don't get in anywhere (WL at cardozo, dinged elsewhere) but I'm wondering how far my crappy lsat will follow me.

Take me as a good test of whether HLS averages in case of a big jump. 178/167 LSAT, 3.78 GPA; if they average, I'll probably be dinged or WLed (GPA is in 25-50th range, LSAT average is around median), but if they don't, I should hopefully be in (high LSAT is above 75th).

UPDATING - 2010 started off really slow for me but picked up recently.

Just curious, splitters who have had success, just how low are your GPAs? (Feel free to PM if not wanting to post.)

Given that my status checker for George Mason has changed without a phone call, it's not looking too great for my prospects there -- and coming on the heels of a waitlist at Loyola (Chicago), both schools I didn't think would be reaches, I'm starting to get a little nervous about the rest of my cycle. I realize splitters have somewhat random cycles and I have enough remaining applications (14) that I'm not in full freakout mode or anything, but it'd be nice to know that 2.8/170-URM is getting the job done somewhere in the Top-30...

I'm 2.8 and I got into GMU, so I think you might be alright. Unless you have a criminal background or something.

Ok, I'm starting to really worry. I'm aware this is normal but with my numbers I'm starting to think I may not get in anywhere I applied. Do you guys think I should send out some last minute safety apps? All help is appreciated. Extreme splitter (I think) here...2.72, 169 applied to:

I should mention that I have a very valid GPA addendum that deals with a medical issue that caused me to fail a bunch of classes and leave school for a while. Although I'm starting to believe schools dont really care at all about your reasons, as your excuses don't translate into higher rankings

Hang in. I think you have a realistic shot at all of those schools and will at least get into a couple, though you'll also assuredly get rejected from some that just won't look past the GPA.

For what it's worth, I have really similar numbers and it has worked out in spite of, as you can see above, some early nervousness over surprising feedback from schools I thought were my safeties.

Held at Northwestern yesterday. There goes my last realistic shot at cracking the T14 clean, now I'll have to get in off a WL somewhere. Feeling stretched very thin.
