Not sure what you mean by "is it true." Not sure you'd automatically get that much, but you certainly could get anywhere up to full tuition. Fwiw I was above both 75ths, got more than $100K, and chose it over NYU.zeglo wrote:Is it true that Cornell gives 100k merit aid above 75ths? I am a fan. I'd go here over NyU for that kind of money.

Also happy to take any PMs on choosing Cornell with $$$ over higher ranked schools when the time comes.
ETA: To clarify, I chose Cornell over NYU 4 years ago. I'm an alum.

Yes, same here. I was going to definitely write a new thread once I get offers so I can thoroughly explore the optionsLavitz wrote:Yep.zeglo wrote:Just seems like such a high scholarship amount. Re: Cornell c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
My numbers are squarely median for my entering class, and they granted me over $100k in scholarship money, although I suspect some of that is meant to be need-based, considering my low income status. Cornell is super generous, and I very satisfied with my decision to attend.zeglo wrote:Is it true that Cornell gives 100k merit aid above 75ths? I am a fan. Actually not all... It's rare but I know a few people who have gotten in at the past three cycles without interviews (5 to be exact) and they were at the medians. Why??? wrote:Allspursforever wrote:Does Cornell interview all of the applicants it accepts? Interview takes less than 30 minutes. Practice runs take ~20. With 2-3 practice runs and the full interview you're spending less than an hour and a half. Do the interview within ten days.call-me-bubbles wrote:In the interview request e-mail, it says to try to do the interview within 10 days. How bad is it if you don't? I retook the LSAT on Saturday and am taking the GRE tomorrow (#masochist), so studying for those has been my priority. I'm just hoping they won't see my interview on the tenth or eleventh day and think the delay was due to a lack of interest or commitment or something.
On another note, I did the interview on Friday and my application status still says "Interview Requested." Anyone in the same boat?

Yeah my status check still says interview requested, but I did have a date change, so I'm not really sure.SharpSpoons wrote:Interview takes less than 30 minutes. Practice runs take ~20. Same here! Interviewed 12/2, status checker changed yesterday to 12/5, but still says interview requested. I don't know what to think.

No worries there, mine said the exact same thing for like two days, then I got the acceptance call. I don't think there was ever a chance were it changed to "interview completed"

Re: Cornell c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Can someone help me understand T14 rankings a bit better. I am wondering what are the factors that go into why a school is ranked a certain number as opposed to the other. Like what would be the most important factors that help a school be placed higher than another?
For example, in the state of NY and of NY Law Schools Cornell has the highest employment score (according to LST), yet it sits at Number 13, it also has the third highest employment score in the nation (according to LST).
This leads me to believe there are other factors that play a more important role (individually or collectively) than just employment scores. What would those be?
What would someone say to the relationship between ranking and employment scores?
I am also going to note that even though these employment marks are high, there exists a strong possibility that the "quality" of that value is low. For example, lets imagine a school that has a 100% employment rate and is ranked at 150, I understand that the reason this score is meaningless is because its probably the case that 100% of that class was employed in less prestigious jobs (to be nice).
I am just looking for some clarity, and hope that people are nice.

If it helps it was very quick, with a number somewhere between 5-8 questions. It took longer to set up the web cam settings.airwrecka wrote:Gah I got the interview request on 11/28 so I need to hurry my butt up and get it done. I forget this weekend though and I'm so busy during the week!

For those of you who interviewed: how long was your status checker at "application ready for review" before you received the interview request? My status checker hasn't updated since I got the initial "we've received your application" email on 11/23.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
