I've been under review since mid November as well. Does anyone know if there is any past history of someone being under review for so long getting directly admitted or must they get waitlisted in order to have a chance?
Thanks for any input.

Too much time spent reading previous year's thread will suggest:arewevoting wrote:UR 11/3. also curious about any blind speculation on this questionPipKing wrote:I've been under review since mid November as well. I think the vast majority of people who were under review since November and did not get faculty review got dinged right after the people who were accepted with that faculty review wave, and some got dinged a month later. One person reporting getting straight admitted, I think, at a much later time, and maybe a couple people got pushed to the second wave of faculty review. It looks like you don't get WLed without faculty review. In short, I am preparing myself for a rejection either in the coming week or two, or toward the end of February.

I went UR 12/8 and don't have faculty review. Based on the speculation on this thread and the one from last year, I think it's safe to say that I am toast unless there's some magical second faculty review wave that comes in the next week or so.hearsay77 wrote:Any insight as to whether this applies to those who went under review in mid-December?caliplaw wrote:Too much time spent reading previous year's thread will suggest:arewevoting wrote:UR 11/3. also curious about any blind speculation on this questionPipKing wrote:I've been under review since mid November as well. FR2 came right after FR1 results came out last year, I believe, and FR1 will be announced Feb 6-ish.

What's the purpose of FR2? I mean when the Faculty Reviews your app the first time around, don't they just decide accept/deny/waitlist? I guess FR2 is just a "hold"/preferred waitlist?

Pepole don't go FR1 to FR2. FR2 is for those who were not accepted, denied, or sent to FR1 (so generally those that submitted too late to make it into FR1). It's just like FR1 but with a different group of applicants.ku546 wrote:I have same dates. It looks like it also shows up on the mailings section of the status checker as "Decision Letter Mailed."sneakyleo wrote:It took about 6 weeks for me to receive the welcome packet. That was earlier in the cycle, so there may have been a delay in sending the welcome packets initially, but you were also admitted right before the holidays, which may have slowed them down. I might give it another week or two to see if it shows up.zuko23 wrote:I was admitted Dec 19th but still haven't received a package in the mail. Should I e mail them?

Ah ok thanks for the explanation. I wonder what differentiates FR1 vs FR2 applicants. Is it a LSAT/GPA thing?Pepole don't go FR1 to FR2. If you've registered for the February LSAT would Berkeley place a hold on your app?

Timing of submission. Those who went complete/UR before some sort of unknown cutoff date (beginning of Jan approximately) go to FR1. Once FR1 is announced most of the candidates still waiting who didn't go under FR1 but submitted before the cutoff will receive accept/deny. Maybe they can move to FR2 but l don't remember seeing that happen in last year's thread. Those who submitted after the cutoff can be accepted/denied or moved to FR2.ku546 wrote:Ah ok thanks for the explanation. I wonder what differentiates FR1 vs FR2 applicants. I'm not sure that this is exactly how they do it but it seems to be the rough pattern from last year's thread.

I guess I'm just a little confused as to why there are so many people from November who still haven't heard anything back.
Surely people have been accepted, denied, or sent to faculty review who have submitted their applications, so what is the hold up?

My guess would be that the people who haven't heard back are the borderline applicants that they want to compare to incoming applications. They probably are just as eager to get decisions out and done with as we are to hear back, so I can't imagine that they're holding back decisions for anything unimportant. Unless they enjoy watching us squirm...jwwoodma wrote:I guess I'm just a little confused as to why there are so many people from November who still haven't heard anything back.
