Hopefully they'll email us international students. The prospect of waiting more two weeks for a letter is just... Intolerable

Re: Columbia c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
they started emailing all decisions near the end of the cycle last year, but presumably that was just because ASWs were coming up and they wanted to let people know as quickly as possible so that they could make plans. it'll probably happen later this cycle too, but the first few rounds of decisions will almost definitely be snail mail.

It took 29 days for the NYU package to get to me, so I'm not holding my breath for Columbia anytime soon. I think internationals always get emails?

Skimmed last year's thread and xylo is right! Anyone with a permanent address outside the US will get an email followed by the mailed package.

something I couldn't really tell from last year's thread — do they send letters to the mailing address or the permanent address? I've gotten everything to my mailing address so far (and it would make sense to MAIL stuff to the mailing address...), but it seemed like last year people were calling their parents and stuff for columbia sooo idk. any reappliers know for sure?

Does anyone have any insight on whether Canadians are considered internationals for mailing/emails? It seems like it differs for different things.

On page 82 of last year's thread, they said it was the current address. Whether that continues to be true... we'll have to wait and see hahaxylocarp wrote:something I couldn't really tell from last year's thread — do they send letters to the mailing address or the permanent address? It seems like so long as your address is outside of the US, you will get an email regardless of if you're international or not (ex: you might be a US citizen and living abroad). In that case, it seems like Canadians will get an email.

mm i got the impression that people who called their parents were non-internationals that happened to be abroad for work/school and thus, got CLS acceptances sent to their permanent US addresses instead? seemed like most other admits got the news at their mailing addresses.xylocarp wrote:something I couldn't really tell from last year's thread — do they send letters to the mailing address or the permanent address? If Columbia requests some sort of additional information from you via email, to whom does one address the email response? I know that physically it is sent to the admissions email address but is it just "To whom it may concern"? That seems kind of off, but I could be overthinking it.

"To whom it may concern" sounds fine if nowhere in the email did it indicate a name or title. If there was a title, ex: "admissions officer", I would use that.waterandparchedearth wrote:If Columbia requests some sort of additional information from you via email, to whom does one address the email response? If there isn't a particular person's name listed, I think it's fine to just say "Good afternoon" "Good morning" etc.waterandparchedearth wrote:If Columbia requests some sort of additional information from you via email, to whom does one address the email response? I had an additional information request email and although it was from the admissions email address, it was signed by a specific person at the bottom. Seemed appropriate to address my reply to that person (even though I knew it wouldn't necessarily be going right back to them).waterandparchedearth wrote:If Columbia requests some sort of additional information from you via email, to whom does one address the email response? Does anyone know if ED acceptances get their acceptance packages and what not with the first wave of acceptances for RD?

My interviewer said I'd hear back "sooner rather than later" ...whatever that means!

I am really expecting them to mail stuff out this week. Although I have very little basis for that.Four Winds wrote:My interviewer said I'd hear back "sooner rather than later" ...whatever that means!

Plz let there be decisions this weektwitterati wrote:My interview was super relaxed and conversational. We talked a lot about the programs at Columbia and not so much about my own application. I got the sense that they were gauging whether I would attend. The answer is -- YESSSSSSSSSSSS.![]()
They also mentioned they're going to try really hard to get decisions out within two weeks!! PM me if you have any other questions.
