haha no it was a running joke.
people asked if the fedex 5.0lb box meant acceptance.
and we told them that they send out 5lbs of chocolate to the WL/dings.

Kind of insulted I was WLed with the 1/8 mailing as my LSAT was above 75th and I have been accepted at UT, UCLA, and WUSTL with $$ at at least two of the schools.

That sucks, but it sounds like you have some good options on the table. The Texas legal market is thriving and a piece of paper from UT Law goes a long way at most TX firms. I live in Austin and would round kick a baby in the face for an acceptance. I know it sucks to be shut down when you're well above the 75ths, but if it makes you feel better my Vandy interviewer told me that she wishes she would have attended UT because her Vandy law degree doesn't go so far in TX. Take some of that money at another school and thank Vandy for making your decision that much easier.

What's dat GPA tho? Being the type of person to be insulted that you're not special enough for a school to see how brightly your little star shines may have been a contributing factor to your WL.

Wow that's a little rude... It has nothing to do with being upset that "my star doesn't shine bright enough," but I am a little miffed that although I was more than good enough for schools ranked the same or higher I was waitlisted by Vandy. I currently work in the music industry and even included a supplementary essay on why I thought Nashville and Vanderbilt would be a good fit considering my interest in pursuing entertainment law, artist management, and booking (I work with people who do this now and many have noted how helpful it is to have a J.D.). I thought I made my interest in Vanderbilt come across clear and sincere and with my LSAT above 75th I was not expecting a wl although my GPA was below median. I thought it came across as a bit snotty (just like you). You and Vanderbilt can have each other and I'll take my ass to greener pastures. Jerk.
