This is great news, I have a car lease atm and who can argue against cheap rent? This is the opposite case from some of the other schools I'm considering in Boston or NY (hard to have a car, expensive rent)

No. That's what everyone's status checker says regardless of whether they're admitted, rejected, or wait listed. Do you have deposit numbers (600, 400) in the lower left area of your status checker page? If so, you should be in. If you're accepted, you'll typically get an email the next day. If not, you'll probably just get a snail mail notification.

For campus and immediate area, bike would be fine 8 months per year. When it gets bad in the Midwest though, it's not like winter biking in NYC or Chicago. We don't have the infrastructure. That was my experience in similar college town of Bloomington, IN (probably more bike friendly than South Bend).

You're definitely not getting to Whole Foods by bike though, anytime of year.

Rent can range from 500-700 a month for studio/1 bedroom. You can get cheaper at some of these places with a two bedroom by splitting the costs. I lived at Clover Village for 5 years (last three years of undergrad and first two of law school) and paid $600 a month, including utilities.

Didn't realize you went to IU haha...you're definitely right that Bloomington is much more bike-friendly. Depending on where you live in South Bend biking is definitely feasible, but it would be really hard when everything is snow-covered which is 3-4 months per year. And you will probably want to get to Mishawaka at least some time because of chain food and Wal-Mart/Meier/Target, etc...that bike ride would be impossible in the winter, and long at other times.

I never lived in Fischer so I can't really speak to it, the people who did live there seemed to like it. The apartments directly on the east side of campus (Clover Village/Clover Ridge/Irish Row/etc...) are really not much further walking wise from the law school than Fischer. The Foundry is probably closer (but much more expensive).

Living alone vs. with a roommate is just a matter of personal choice. If you get distracted easily, perhaps it would be better to live alone, but a roommate may be good as well (especially if the roommate happens to be a 2L or a 3L and you make friends with them).

They just announced a new graduate housing apartment. I deleted the email since I live off campus, but it will be brand new opening in Aug, might be something to look into if you want to live on campus.

Thanks!!! So I applied 12/3, it went complete soon after and then I had another complete update on 1/14
