Just know that they are deciding our lives right now haha
And the page to check my application status "can't be displayed"

Wonder what's going on
Chrome is saying it has a redirect loop. Almost certainly a technical issue unrelated to decisions.
Firefox too. Guess everyone is going nuts on that page.

Finally got a hold of someone. The woman said ED decisions could come out this week but most likely next week.

They will let us know via Twitter and Facebook.

Haha. According to last year's forum topic, some RDs got their decisions in December as well.

If you look at the NU Law Admissions Facebook page you'll notice that last year they announced that some RD were released mid-Dec.

Um... so I applied ED but my numbers/life sucks. Do you think they'll be giving outright rejections or will just hold us over into RD if we're not accepted ED...?

PLEASE DON'T REJECT ME NORTHWESTERN BECAUSE I HAVE A HEART OF GOLD AND I CAN BE GOOD TO YOU... WE CAN BE SO HAPPY TOGETHER. I PROMISE TO BE SUPER SMART BUT NOT AN ANNOYING GUNNER. AND TO WITHSTAND THE BRUTAL COLD AND GUSTS OF ICE WIND THAT COME OFF OF LAKE MICHIGAN. I'LL WRITE YOU A SONG. I'LL TELL YOU YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL EVERY DAY.

Not every day because then it won't be special.

Okay. I'm sorry. Guys, I'm sorry. Please ignore.

Lol what do you mean "life sucks" ? Do you have leadership or work experience? Any fun experiences that taught you anything and helped grow you as a person?
Did you interview? How did that go?

They told me how interviews can help those who would have gotten an outright rejection be waitlisted or even accepted!

Haha, I'm being a drama queen. I have solid softs but my GPA/LSAT is just barely in the medians. And the interview went well.... but I don't know. I feel like the caliber of students that attend, especially those I had met while interviewing on campus, were far beyond my own.. y'know? #insecurity

Yeah, I definitely know!! Check out my LSAT and GPA numbers in my profile smh. I have great leadership, work experience, and study abroad experience but nothing like those who aren't coming straight from undergrad.

If I get accepted ED, that would truly be a blessing. I won't die if I get RD'd or waitlisted.

I believe I made an impression on a few of the admissions folks. Maybe they'll have mercy on me and understand my struggle of a life.

Maybe they'll feel really guilty about it and give us all acceptances to make up for it.

Well I'm not too worried about kids straight out of undergrad because I know NUSL still has its strong preference for kids with a couple years out of the game. But yeah. Hopefully stellar softs can push us over the edge - although I'd rather not speak for you, because you may very well be in a far better boat than I.

And I agree. I'd take being held into RD. WL would sadden me. And rejection would make me start looking at B-School options because I feel as though my application is tailored towards NUSL just because of my WE and my goals, etc. So if I can't get in there, I'd imagine I can't get in at any other T14.

Haha. I restrained myself earlier from posting about how Apple's policies are so far reaching that we all can't help but think that the NU site being down means something is going to happen. Love that @tweetsbyjohann acknowledged this and let us all know they were not planning on doing decisions today. (I also love the language, we "were not planning" to do decisions today.)

MrsHello wrote:Hello there!

I, too, am a 2013-2014 cycle applicant ... AJD applicant.

I initially got a fee waiver back in October and was supposed to expire on November 15, but when I tried it a day before it's supposed to expire, it didn't work ... good thing NU Law admissions peeps are soooo nice and helpful, they gave me a new one that was gonna expire on December 15 (but I submitted my application already on that day of November 14.. just to I can get the ball rolling). It took them around 4 weeks to assign me an off-campus interviewer but I checked this afternoon and I got one! Sent her an email (as I do want to get my stuff completed before the end of the year!) and hopefully she'll be available between now and December 31! :P

I just wrote the LSAT yesterday (hoping it's within the 161-170 median posted for AJD). I got a 3.27 (which is within their median of 3.07-3.80) in my GPA back in 2003 (has it really been a decade since I graduated with my BA?! )

I got 10 years of professional/work experience:
- Trademark/Copyright Researcher
- Soft IP (trademark/copyright) Analyst for a big media company here in NYC
- Got a Master's in Criminal Justice (2007)
- Finishing up an MBA
- Also, serves as a Team Leader for NY Cares

I really would love to be part of the NU law organization and I hope they'll be receptive to my application.

One thing though, I am married and planning to have a child within the next two years (I am not a young cat anymore!) and I was wondering what areas in Chicago that are within reasonable/convenient vicinity within NU law that is a good area for families. (I'm a native NY-er and will be selling our apartment early next year, God-willing!).

Your input is very much appreciated.
Hey! Good luck on your application and everything! I lived in Chicago for four years during my undergrad (currently in Charlotte, but hoping to move back and be a student at Northwestern!) But anyways, I'd check out Lincoln Park, Lake View (some parts are very fratty so be careful!), Old Town, Gold Coast, and if you're looking for a cheaper alternative maybe Buena Parks (newly gentrified but very family friendly, really just depends!) I'm certainly not an expert but I hope this helps. My mom currently lives in LP (Lincoln park) and she loves it and there are certainly tons of families in Lincoln Park. Plus it's only a 15-25 minute commute to the campus via train and shorter via car depending on traffic.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
