I was told that UCLA was quick at making their decisions, has that been true this cycle? Will it take longer since I'm out of state? How much longer will my suffering continue?
The short answer is that it depends. Some people are getting their answers quickly, others are waiting for months. Good luck figuring out the difference between them.
Exactly. I've been complete since 12/18. People who have submitted after me with both worse and better numbers than me have been waitlisted, accepted, and rejected. There might be a method to the madness but who knows? The best you can do is know that you'll know by May haha. It's really tough since UCLA is my dream school and basically my home now and I just want to either be let down or start celebrating already!!!

Good to hear there is at least some movement going on over in Westwood.

Hello, everyone!
Just applied, so scrapping that deadline and don't expect to hear anything soon, but about how long are people waiting to hear back?
Also, did anyone else here apply to be in the David J. Epstein program? Does anyone know how it works? Do they just admit 25 students only, or do they wait until all their admits are confirmed and then admit people into that program?
Also, do they only accept 30% non-Cal residents?
Thanks so much for the answers, sorry for being such a noob. lol

I waited about a month, but I applied ED and was waitlisted. From when I applied it took about 2-3 months for acceptance.
Does anyone else know about when we find out if we are in the Epstein program?

I didn't write a why UCLA.... do you think submitting one could be a good idea or too much of a pest for them?

And I applied to the Epstein program! The Public Interest Program right? I did not know they accepted only 25 students. I have not heard anything about it since the acceptance. Maybe it will come in the mail?
Does anyone else know about when we find out if we are in the Epstein program?
EDIT: I emailed Dean Schwartz, and he said those who applied to the Epstein program will find out mid-March.
Wow...thanks so much! So I'm assuming we get accepted (hopefully) then they decide who the Epstein people are.

No problem! And yeah I think that's how it's done. They might be separate admissions processes. Don't take my word for it though.

I'm gonna be honest here, I included a programmatic contribution believing it was just to express interest in a particular program. Was this an actual application for the program? This might be what's holding up my decision

For those that were accepted to UCLA:
How did you receive your financial aid package? Was it a part of the welcome reception email? Or does it come in the mail, or with some other form?
Thanks

If someone else received it (initially) another way, feel free to correct me, but in most peoples' cases, it seems that the offer was mentioned on the acceptance phone call.

I was told about it over the phone along with the acceptance. Then there was a letter with the scholarship breakdown as part of the package in the mail.

Most likely yield protection. Look at those schools that he/she got into.

Nope, just to express interest in a program. If you did the Epstein essay though, that was an application.

I should also note that I don't have any ties to Southern California, and that fact probably played a hand in their decision, even if UCLA was a top contender for me. Good luck to everyone else though!

Checking in, submitted my app. Also realized I didn't say anything about "why" in my programmatic contribution, but I did in my PS... ugh... heightened anxiety over it begins now.
