Re: In at Harvard: Class of 2016
Does anyone know when they will start notifying candidates who applied for one--or more--of the Restricted/General Harvard University scholarships? I know they are HIGHLY competitive but I'm broke and I'm really hoping I get the one I applied for. Did it show up in anyone's preliminary financial award letter?

One of my friends proposed to me before UG in order to try and take advantage of "independent" status for finaid. You have five months before LS, gogogo!ManOfTheMinute wrote:Just got my finaid package.... guess I should have had kids

If you have more time than money, you can also try Providence. The flights to there are often much cheaper than Boston, and from the downtown Providence train station you can take the MBTA commuter rail into South station for less than $10, and then the subway into H.sabanist wrote:Any advice on knocking the price down for plane tickets to ASW? I'd be flying out of ATL or BHM. I'd be willing to fly to a different airport than BOS and take a train if it would knock 100+ off the total cost.
Try not to laugh, I'm broke and have never bought a plane ticket for myself before.

I think this is correct... married students' assets (student+spouse) just get cut in half.Alassio wrote:I'm married and they still wanted my parent's info, so I guess it doesn't work.carboncopyx wrote:Ask me again in a few weeks when I get my finaid package.ManOfTheMinute wrote:Since it sounds like you said no... Has anyone received a reply regarding a travel stipend for April ASW?
I sent in the snail mail form probably two weeks ago, but have not gotten confirmation of receipt. Am I supposed to be receiving an email regarding this or do I just wait until I actually attend ASW?

There's a desk at ASW registration about travel stipends, so I think you can submit your travel receipt there and check about status. It apparently takes a few weeks to process. ALSO if you don't send if your request 10 days before, you can still submit it at ASW (I did).Searchparty wrote:Has anyone received a reply regarding a travel stipend for April ASW?

Man, Boston's the dopest town. Also, for anyone from the west coast, I found an amazing burrito by Fenway.

El Pelon Taqueria, get the El Guapo burrito with the weird green hot sauce ... Everyone should put fried plantains in their burritos!ManOfTheMinute wrote:Go on...jselson wrote:Man, Boston's the dopest town. Also, for anyone from the west coast, I found an amazing burrito by Fenway.

Honestly, the only way to get any decent financial aid is to have a baby or have parents who haven't saved any money for retirement. Great message that's sending...edgeofthenight wrote:

Sadly, that would have earned you a ton of money and you'd still not qualify for financial aid. #ProudtobeanAmericancarboncopyx wrote:I knew I should have tried to get on Teen Mom back in high school.ManOfTheMinute wrote:Honestly, the only way to get any decent financial aid is to have a baby or have parents who have saved any money for retirement. What are people's thoughts on bringing someone to ASW, such as a girlfriend/spouse?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
