My package came with no scholly info. They usually send the SMU blue folder with some brochures and the letter if it's an admit package. I received my scholly letter just plain ol SMU envelope like 2-3 weeks after.

EDIT: forgot to mention that I live like 10 mins from SMU

My roommate just told me my acceptance package came, does anyone know if scholly information comes with it or does it come later...I might have to leave work early for this

For us it came much later. I am not sure what they are doing for the later admits/applicants.

Also, can anyone give me feedback on living in The Hill at The Village?

I have some friends who live over there and they all enjoy it. You are close to campus (5-10 minutes) and have access to a massive park and a country club that is across the street. It is cheap compared to your other options around SMU. Anything in Highland Park or Uptown is going to be heavy financially.

Thanks. I have to rent a three-bedroom (myself, spouse, and three kids) and The Hill is about the cheapest I can find in the area. Once cost of gas and inconvenience is factored in, it doesn't make much sense to live up in Plano or other northern areas, despite the rent difference. And the Village seems like it has a whole lot of amenities. It's pretty old, though... Built in the 70's. And no elevator to the second floor, which is where the apartment I'm looking at is located.

I live at The Hill. The age isn't too big of a problem. Some units have really nice upgrades (wood blinds, wood floors). Mine doesn't, but it has fresh paint and clean carpets, so it's still pretty nice. The problem with the age is energy efficiency, so plan for your electric bill to be about $100 higher per month. Really, except for the frat boys who live downstairs, I love it. And the park and country club are really nice.

Thanks. The Hill is the cheapest 3-bedroom possibility I can find, and that's likely to be true even with added heating/cooling costs. Do you know if the fitness center is open 24 hours or what the hours there are?

Yay. I'm guessing you were accepted later in the cycle? I was told it would be 2-4 weeks via status checker. (for whatever reason I didn't get a call )

Yes I was accepted via phone call on Friday. My acceptance letter and scholarship letter are both dated 2/25 and came inside the blue smu folder sent priority mail.

It used to be ungraded and not require writing a brief, according to Google. That was 2010-2011, so it's a recent change I guess.

This just made me angry considering I got my practice brief returned with comments today lol. The 2Ls have also had the same experience but I have not talked to any 3Ls who mentioned that they did not. Weird indeed. We are definitely writing appellate briefs and doing oral arguments this semester and the professors act like they've been doing it this way for years. Oh well....

Btw...I am a 1L at UT who was also admitted to SMU. Kalvano had some great advice and I'm glad I took it.

If I can answer questions about choosing (aside from the obvious ranking difference), I'd be happy to do so!

I was admitted early January and never got a call. . We are just too cool for calls.

I will be driving into Dallas for ASD tomorrow. I wonder how much of a crowd they normally get for these things?

On a side-note, apparently this weekend is also some sort of parent visit day for all the fraternities and sororities on campus. So FYI, the nearby hotels are booked solid. I had to book something miles away to get availability in a non-luxury (read: less than $200/night) room.
