I switched my address to my Mom's who lives 5 mins from the law school hoping to get it sooner. The scholarship was 25/year renewable for all three years provided I was in good academic standing and in the top half of class. A whole lot more than I was expecting so I'm pretty happy

Congrats. That's pretty nice. On LSN, last year they didn't give that kind of money out so maybe they're trying to up their ranking but attracting people with higher numbers with money.hurricane10 wrote:I switched my address to my Mom's who lives 5 mins from the law school hoping to get it sooner. When I got my acceptance email, it says I'll be attending the University Park campus. I didn't really have a preference on which campus I attended.
Does anyone know if there is much of a difference between the two campuses?

There's a pretty big difference. UP is the main undergrad campus so there's 50,000 undergrads around. Also it's in the middle of nowhere. UP will give you the college experience again.MrThomasFT3 wrote:When I got my acceptance email, it says I'll be attending the University Park campus. Carlisle is near the state capital and is a lot quieter since there's only a few thousand undergrads at Dickinson College. Also it's supposedly cheaper to live there than UP. DC and NY are only a couple hours away from Carlisle.

Does anyone else have an update in the status checker saying that their packet was sent? I'm wondering if everyone had that or if it's just the initial batch of scholarships going out.

I have been "Application Complete" for over one month now. Is anyone else in the same boat? And should I contact the admissions office?

ive been under review for 2 months. It takes a while. Just be patient and try to determine your school ranking, and what it will take for you to seriously consider attending the school ( how much money, etc), so when you get the good news, you will be ready to make a decision.

Wow! I feel bad. I was Complete on 11/17 and UR just last week and got in on Friday. I feel like it is random. I hope I get good money since my LSAT is low.

Care to share details at all? I think PSU needs to step it up, too. In past years it seems that they have offered 20k/yr TOPS. I just think that with employment prospects shrinking and costs going up, they should be willing to dish out a little more $$. A lot of other schools are offering more this cycle, so I hope PSU follows suit.northwood wrote:eeh dont feel bad. I just got a sweet scholarship offer from another school today, so im on cloud nine! Got my scholarship info and packet in the mail. 60k over three years. Sadly think I might withdraw though unless I can get Joe Pa to hit the club with me!

Re: Penn State 2011 Applicants
My status checker was updated with this message this morning:
"Typically, a decision can be rendered in 6 weeks or less, however, due to the volume of applications and the competitive nature of the admission process we cannot guarantee a final decision on your application before May 2011."
I have been "Under Review" since 11/16. At least they haven't forgotten about me...?

Re: Penn State 2011 Applicants
mine has been saying that since I first went under review on 11/16.
I will give them until the end of february. If i havent heard anything before then, I will withdraw my application. Seeing as I have heard froma lot of schools allready- and I will be using March to visit the ones I am seriously considering attending, if I havent heard yet, I wont want to risk giving up my seat at another school ( one with money offered) for the chance at going to PSU.

I have been UR since 11/30. 165/2.7. Don't sweat it.DocHawkeye wrote:My status checker was updated with this message this morning:

Same here. At the beginning of the cycle, Penn state was close to having me, but Denver came in higher (25k/yr), and I think I have a chance at Northeastern's Public Interest scholarship as well. Withdrawing, hopefully someone else can use the Dean's Scholly!jayman6 wrote:Same. Above both 75ths and got 20k/yr. Withdrawing...ach24 wrote:Received my packet today. Dean's scholarship - 20k/yr.
