No, rank is meaningless. A partner that is a Brooklyn alum isn't going to shun all BLS lawyers because well damn Cardozo is 10 spots ahead.

Outside the top 20(ish) all schools are regional. And rankings do not matter between ~20-100.

So in short, all you guys are telling me to chose Brooklyn over Cardozo for a better chance at high paying job even though Cardozo is 15 spots better ranked. Ok, that's nice to know.

Not exactly. I was just saying that ranking isn't everything. It's not like employers rush to read the new US News rankings every year to see where the schools are ranked; they hire based on previous experiences with former students from each school. So the point was that with a larger alumni base, there are more firms that have experience with BLS graduates. (And whose hiring directors might themselves be BLS graduates.)

Either way, class rank is always going to be the deciding factor, which is why I said earlier to go wherever you feel most comfortable.

As a local I have to say to the people looking for fee apartments and Realtors---do not do this. If you want to save money, live along the L/2/3/NQR/456 in Brooklyn/Queens or in Jersey City/Hoboken/Ironbound Newark---24 hour transit that should be no more than a 20-40 min train ride and SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper rent. LOTS of places in Bushwick, Park Slope (the less posh side), Astoria, and all these places that you can hit craigslist and go month to month until you get a feel for the city and some people you'd live with etc

I hear you, and that was my plan. Craigslist however has turned into complete garbage.

Actually, just keep looking - I just found someone to take my place in Manhattan via Craigslist and I found my (cheaper, roomier) sublet via Craigslist. My landlord was letting me out of my lease early provided I found someone new and I know it must happen to others at some point. Most of it is garbage, but there are legit apartments to be found. Good luck!

I second this. Look look look on craigslist. You will find a place that is significantly cheaper in the aforementioned neighborhoods, and chances are that they'll be a lot nicer/roomier than the similarly-priced lofts/pads one would find in Manhattan. I was lucky enough to find a somewhat spacious apartment for $650/month in Greenpoint during the summer of '07.

definitely stuff out there on craigslist. takes time and persistence of course. i'd also add that the G and M lines are worth looking at too, some cheaper apartments out there and not a bad commute from cardozo area. i live by greenpoint G (30-45 min commute) and you can find shares in the $700-$1000 range, 1BRs in the $1100-1500 range. graham ave L has similar prices, maybe a little more expensive. similar prices in south williamsburg (by broadway G + hewes M) but somewhat grimier area. fort greene is pricier but also worth a look.

I actually was told in an e-mail that we get a scholarship for top hats. Interestingly enough, we actually get our admission revoked for canes.

It seems like Cardozo seems to have two objectives this cycle- accept high GPAs and attract URMs. LSAT scores seem to be not as important based on the 0Ls on this forum.

Nah. 165, 3.3 here, 20,000 per year. Not exactly a high GPA.

Man... I'm perplexed. I could see if you had great softs you getting in over my 166 3.2, I guess my confusion comes in when you get a sizable scholarship and I simply get held.

Yeah, maybe they are focusing on GPA. Cause I'm 165/3.6 and got 28000. And I think I read a couple pages back of an applicant with 164/3.85 getting 30000. Also the URM applicant with a 155/3.3 getting 28000. I agree that they are putting a lot of stock into GPA and URM.

Edit: Just looked back and saw a 165/3.8 with 32000. So..

165/3.8 = 32000
165/3.6 = 28000
165/3.3 = 20000

Ugh, I should have studied more.

In with 165/3.67, 81k scholly..... there has to be more to the scholarship decisions than just numbers alone...

Just got my acceptance letter today (had a phone call a few days earlier) without any scholarship info like some others. For people who have already gotten scholarships, does it come in a separate letter? GPA 3.56, LSAC 167 and I went to Yeshiva University for undergrad if that even makes a difference.

Mine was a separate letter but came in the same packet as the admittance (a clear envelope)

I just got back from today's event. It was pretty informative. Staff was very nice and accomodating and all the students I met were very honest about job prospects and what to expect. Anyone have any questions, you can PM or just ask
