Rejected today. Under review 11/9. Ugh. Didn't expect to be rejected outright, but maybe I should have.
Good luck to everyone else.

Rejected today as well via status checker.
161 and 3.1
Sucks because my Dad went there and I really like the Pittsburgh area. Oh well, time to move on. Good luck to everyone else still waiting and to everyone who ends up attending.

Schools don't want to admit people and not have them matriculate so they usually wait-list people that they think will almost certainly get into and attend a better school. In some cases they reject them.
Anyway, for the people dinged today when did you go under review? Anybody 12/8 or later?

best bet is Shadyside/Squirrel Hill...kk19131 wrote:OGR3 wrote:DON'T!!!!
I have a friend in my section who lives there. She ordered a Macbook Pro, and they "lost" it when it was delivered. Lo and behold, when she threatened legal action, it was magically "found". Washington Plaza is super overpriced and not in a great area. Craigslist is the way to go.
Well that's certainly disheartening.
... back to the drawing board I guess.
Look on craigs list and call mgmt. companies for listings...
avoid Lobos, Mozart, and Trends Capital...
Have Trends... they suck and I have spoken with people who have had bad experiences with the others...
Try someone like Walnut Capital..gl

Pitt was low on my list after getting into Case Western. I like the City of Pittsburg and I personally think Pitt is a great school if you can get the 161/3.4 deans scholarship. However, I am not from Pennsylvania so even with the 14K dean award it still would have been too expensive to justify.

Thats really unexpected. They give guaranteed schollys to 161/3.4. You wouldnt think that .3 would be the difference between guaranteed money and a rejection. That makes me scared.mckeeper1 wrote:Rejected today as well via status checker.

"Students admitted prior to February 1st earning a high LSAT score of 161 or better and an undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale) are guaranteed the Dean’s Scholarship. All admitted students are reviewed for consideration for a merit scholarship. Students awarded a merit scholarship will be notified in writing with their admit letter. If there are any current students still hanging around, could you speak a little about employment prospects and OCI? I've been accepted and Pitt is definitely my #1 but I've been hearing shaky things about legal employment outside of the top schools. I'm very nervous about committing to X amount of debt only to have serious trouble finding a job.

So no one else finds it wierd that 161/3.1 got denied? The guaranteed scholly aside, 75th on LSAT, which is generally more important and GPA basically at 25th. I have a 3.12, so im super scared now. Pitt was my fall back.

When you've got numbers like compared to Pitt's percentiles, your softs and essays are prob gonna make the difference. Not to be mean but as much as LSAT matters more than GPA, when your GPA is in the 3.1s, it's sort of unpredictable.

Re: Pittsburgh 2011
I would be shocked if the poster with the 163 LSAT does not get a straight away acceptance with $$$. As for the 161 and sub 3 GPA applicants. I would say 95% would get in with some $, IMO.
In terms of Pitt overall, I believe it is a great school in a pretty damn good market. IMO, Pitt>PSU.

I would agree that Pitt>PSU. Pitt is atleast built into some kind of market, no matter how small. Though my 3.12 scares me, I think I have a decent addendum and also have a 166. Should I be scared?

Although you never know with this stuff, I wouldn't be too worried. If you look on law school numbers, Pitt has already admitted someone with a 159/2.95 and someone else with a 160/2.9.bport hopeful wrote:I would agree that Pitt>PSU. Like the other poster said, in that range it most likely depends on the personal statement/recommendations. At least that's my best guess.

Re: Pittsburgh 2011
I'm a 3.12 as well, but I had a difficult major, lots of "extenuating circumstances" and an okay LSAT at 162. I was slightly worried when I saw those stats getting rejected, but I had a meeting with the admissions ladies and they assured me that the committee DOES take your essays, class choices, work history, etc into account. I think with numbers similar to mine, they are going to carefully review your application. As long as you get into the maybe pile and are confident in the rest of your application, you should probably be fine. Of course, I could be saying this just to reassure myself. Ha.

do you think it is too late to apply now,
158, 3.65, and what would my chances be to get in?
