They don't talk very long on the phone. Maybe a minute at most. I think it took a couple of days last year.

Do you have any clue what amounts of money are given out? I was shocked to only receive $20,000/year from Penn State until I found out they don't give more to Out of State kids. If I'd known that, I wouldn't have applied. Does SMU even have $30,000+ to give out, or is it extremely rare and hard to get? I'm torn between a target and SMU, and this is my last school so I'm dying to find out what (if any) scholarship money I can get. I'm ready for my cycle to be over and (maybe) move to Dallas.

To my knowledge, SMU's largest scholarship offer that is not a full scholarship is $30,000 a year.

According to this, $30,000 is possible, but nothing higher, correct? Or is full ride not showing up here? Of course, the kids who got it may not have posted on LSN. Thanks for your help!

Yeah, it seems like $30k is the maximum possible besides the full scholarships. The full scholarships have to be applied for separately. So, check the SMU Law website to find out the due date and the requirements. There are like 5 to like 8 full scholarships given out I think but they were not posted on LSN. I had a 164 and 4.0 and I got the $30k a year scholly so numbers around there should put you in a good position, give or take a few points here and there.

I was actually thinking the calls wouldn't come until Monday, so if it's next week, I will pleasantly surprised.

Not to get everyone all freaked out, but I checked the SMU thread from last year, and it looks like people's status checker updated to Application Completed 1/26 (Tues) for admittances, and then to "Decision Rendered" on 1/28 (Thurs) with phone calls for acceptances on Thursday and mostly Friday. This is a post from the SMU 2010 thread:
"Last year [2009], those whose status date changed to the Tuesday before the end of January were accepted. This year [2010], that would translate to those of us with 1/26."
And sure enough, that appears to have been true for the 2010 apps as well. This might be the longest week of my life. Let's hope we hear something this week as opposed to the 31st...that would make my weekend a lot less stressful (or more stressful, if I have to start churning out apps to other law schools).
Good luck to everyone

In the past two years, if the Application Complete date changed to the last Tuesday of January, and then changed again to Decision Rendered on Thursday, that seemed to signal good news. No idea (obviously) if that will hold true this cycle.

According to the 2010 thread, some RD applicants found out with the ED batch

I do feel pretty comfortable at this point but who knows. I think it's all gonna come down to money for me. I wanna end up in Dallas but it's gonna take a lot of cash from SMU to override my UT acceptance.

I like the fact that they call you on the phone with your acceptance, but every time the phone rings now, my heart skips a beat, lol. I'm not sure if I can handle this all week.

I think last year people had a status update first. It was on the 26th.. which is the 25th this year. Hahah I know, I'm a big nerd

. So you don't have to start panicking until you get that status update! After people got that update calls came a couple days later.
What I'm not sure of is whether or not part-time people will find out this week!! hopefully..

I looked back to last year, those who went complete the third Tuesday of Jan received full scholarships. Hopefully its true for this year as well.

I believe PT people who applied early found out at the same time with the FT folks last year.

Is that when you applied?
